    The Tortoise.

I got my offer letter today, dated the 1st October. I only got one letter.

How about phoning them to let them know that you received 2 identical letters, stating that as you think it may have been a glitch you have only sent one acceptance letter back.

Well done on being successful :)

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I am new to this.

I am trying to reclaim PPI from a loan for replacement windows.
Coldseal was the company, now liquidated, I contacted First Direct who's paperwork the loan was on, they advise me it's nothing to do with them, they mereley provided the credit and underwrote the finance, so i need to contact the agent coldseal.

I don't know what my next step is, can anyone help?

    Thanks

    You ever figure this out?

I have the same issue. Was first national bank, now looks like GE according to my credit file.

Will try and get an address from equifax

Thanks, I tried FSCS but it's 1997 too old for them. Phoned Ombudsman and they going to try and help me. Fingers crossed but I don't hold out much hope.
  • What were you reclaiming: a couple of personal loans
    Who was the provider: natwest
How much did you get back: A Whopping £13000!!!!!
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: All it took was a phone call

Never thought It would apply to me, but having come to the point of dispair with all of the claims adverts, I came on MSE and thought 'why not at least try'.

I rang natwest, who were the most helpful i have ever experienced in the 14 years I have banked with them. Lending told me my account details, then simoly transferred me to the PPI team.

They took details over the phone there and then, told to wait the 8 week period, and at week 7, RESULT!!!

I have recieved offers to the sum of £13000 +.

Now just upto 28 days for the pennies, and the good news is, I get the lot as I have already paid the loans off

  • Just wanted to share another success story.

On Monday we received £744 from husbands Abbey National loan PPI (Santander) dating back about 15 years. We were over the moon as this cleared the two credit card debts we had left from both of us being unemployed earlier this year (both working again now).

Today I received another £3047 from HSBC from a Graduate loan PPI I had 14 years ago! Absolutely thrilled to bits and never would have bothered to apply if it hadn't been for MSE!

Both loans we had no paperwork for, no exact dates etc, but just filled in the forms and sent them off, and 8 weeks later, Bob's your uncle!

    Thank you, thank you MSE!
  • After reading about PPI miss selling I called the Birmingham Midshires as I remembered having compulsory PPI on a mortgage that I had running for about a year.

Very annoyingly I had had a big clearout of all old bank paperwork and didn't have a single account number etc etc.

I called the Midshires thinking it was at least worth a phone call and a lady took my details, but heard nothing so called back about 3 weeks later.

Then out of the blue a cheque for £2000 plus arrived in the post.

The midshires had no record of our PPI account but as we had at some point held a mortgage they paid us the average amount of compensation.

What a result, I didn't need to fill a form in, find old paperwork or anything. Thank you so much MSE and Martin.:j:T
  • Thank you Nikig 1! I think it should be ok with just one - it was an acceptance letter to sign, a new loan agreement (to finish paying the rest of the loan) and a standing order slip. Does that sound like what you had to send back?

    Hi All,

Thought I'd update re another successful week of postman stalking.

    Aqua: Upheld £330
    Black Horse : Upheld £747.11
RBS : Goodwill not admitting liability £2639.17

All cheques coming to us within 28 days. RBS state they'll pay off the credit card but oweless than £200 so allis good with the world.

All I did was send a questionnaire to all 3 of the above. Received standard letters re 8 week response etc and they have all sent decisions before the time is up.

Also received MBNA cheque yesterday 2 weeks into the 28 day deadline.

Cannot believe how easy this whole process has been and really wouldnt have done it without this site so thanks to all contributors

    • What were you reclaiming: Two loans, totalling a borrowed amount of £15,000, both from the early 2000's.
    • Who was the provider: Natwest
    • How much did you get back: £3473.14
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter - just one for both loans.
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale Wrote a letter to Natwest at end of August 2012 asking them to refund PPI on both loans (did not have full details of loans, but did give dates that they were both paid off). I had paid both loans off early, and with the second loan I had cancelled my PPI part way through the loan's run. I had specifically told the bank on both occasions that I needed the monthly payments to be as low as possible. They told me, on both occasions, that I must take out PPI due to my circumstances (both times I had recently moved and changed jobs). Part way through loan number two I asked the bank if there was any way I could make my payments lower, and I was told I could stop paying the PPI, so I did (I remember being most annoyed that I'd had to pay it up to that point, despite me telling them that I needed to be paying as little as possible per month). About a week ago I got a phone call from RBS to ask why I'd cancelled my PPI part way through that loan and explained it to them. Today I received two separate letters, one for each account, detailing the offers made to me.
I am a very happy rabbit! Thanks to all the advice from MSEers, both professional and amateur.
    Would LOVE to win:
A hamper - any sort! A goody bag - any sort! A UK mini-break. A year's supply of something foodie. Anything Sci-Fi related
2013 wins - Cutting Room book, Rock n Rose necklace, £50 M&S voucher, Greggs coffee, £70 voucher for a Onesie

Hi TheTortoise. My PPI reclaim was for a credit card not a loan as yours was, so I only had the acceptance letter to sign and send back, but I would assume that as long as you have signed and sent one copy back all will be fine. As long as both copies are identical the only reason for you receiving two copies is, as you say, only due to a glitch in their system.
