  • I'm new to this, so apologies for any mistakes. Please correct me.
I'm not the most confident of people, but after reading this forum and peoples successes in reclaiming Credit card ppi, i decided to give it a go.
Four weeks later i was £3.8k better off. I tackled Mbna after reading other peoples stories. I used the same comments as them and won back my money.
I cant thank your site, forum and members enough. Also if you are not confident like me. The feeling you get when that cheque arrives in your bank is like nothing else. You can take on the world. Or in my case, a few other Credit card companies now...
    Thanks to everyone...
  • I had a loan with Northern Rock (2 over the last 6 years). After some chasing I have just received a letter confirming that I will be receiving a full refund of over £12,000.

My claim started with a letter from my lender asking if I had reason to request an invistigation into the PPI product I was sold with my loans. I had actually already tried to cancel my PPI not long after I took out the 2nd after being advised by a financial advisor that due to circumstances I did not need the PPI. When I contacted the lender I was told that I was not allowed to cancel th product. Turns out that this was mis-information. I returned the response letter to Northern Rock to Investigate at the end of April 2012. After a few chaseup phone calls I received an offer decision in Mid September confiring a full refund of the amounts paid over 2 loans and interest payment which amounts to over £12,000. :jWell worth waiting for.

All I can advise is don't put it off, even if you are not sure, get in touch with your lender and ask them to investigate.
  • I claimed for missold ppi on my personal loans from LTSB that I first took out in 2003, filled in forms from this site and posted them off in july this year (2012) enclosing copys of T&C's from each loan, (7 in total!!) that I still had.
I received confirmation of receipt letters for the above 7 days later and apology letters for taking to long with my claim at 28 days old.
Was going to leave it until end of oct 2012 before going to ombudsman, However I received an offer letter this thur (27th sept 2012) with a settlement figure for all 7 loans I have had from LTSB since 2003, Total payment offer was £15066.46 !!!!!:j
Received payment yesterday as a direct payment to my bank account. Only wish I had claimed sooner, all it cost me was approx £7.50 to send 7 recorded delivery letters.
DO IT NOW all you stand to lose is the cost of postage and a couple of hours of your time!!
Thanks to moneyexpert and martin for inspiring me to claim.
  • Used all the resources on this site and won, no bother!

    Credit Card
    MBNA
    £1,700 refunded
    Immediate agreement no Ombundsman

Mis sold as I got sick pay from my employers and they cancelled my insurance as soon as I got into problems due to redundancy and overspend due to illness.
Wrote off one week, reply within ten days check arrived the next day, paid in same day and now paying for a well earned and overdue holiday.

Thank you very much Martin, could not have done it without you!!
    I wish I knew more than I do!! :)

I am sorry, but the banks can and do this if there is a debt to them(even if it is written off).

Looking on the bright side at least you never used a claims company as they would still be looking for their fee.

Thanks to this site, I've just heard that Santander will reimburse £13,367!!! This adds to the £22,990 I've already received, taking my total to over £36,000.

To say that I'm delighted doesn't get close...

Thank you so much, MSE :j

Hi after having many calls and texted from claims companies i decided to look into our ppi myself, as i thought youcould only claim for the last 6 years. After reading on this site i decided to have a go for loans dating back to 1993 with the halifax. I went into the local branch and they happily gave me all account numbers for loans, mortgage tmp and creditcards. I phoned up and gave all account numbers. I got a refusal for mortgage in a week and a letter saying paperwork enclosed but no paperwork? So i phoned and asked for a copy of paperwork as i think the payments were rolled in with mortgage payment. That was 5 weeks ago now and still nothing. I also had a letter about 3 weeks ago saying no to some of the loans but today i got a letter with hand written address on and a letter saying we recently wrote confirming compensation we are agreeing to pay in relation to your ppi claim. It contained 5 cheques totally £2384. Now dont get me wrong i am delighted but would like to no what they are paying for and how they have come to that decision. Also do i not have to sign and agree to the amount? Has other people had problems with halifax not sending letters that they say they have?
