I was contacted by First Plus about a month ago. They said I may have been mis-sold PPI with a mortgage loan I had with them. I filled in an online questionnaire and last week I had a letter back saying they'd accepted that I was indeed mis-sold it and that they'd be sending me a cheque for £9,800. That is to cover the complete front loaded PPI payments + 8%

:j:j Love a win with my fave bank in the whole wide world :D:D

    Brilliant :D:D:D
Is this loan finished or still running? if it is still running, make sure they take the whole PPI off the balance and reduce the monthly payment by the PPI monthly amount.

We have had our claim with the FOS since 20th Oct 11 and all we get back is that it's still being looked into too, and our case hasn't been allocated yet.

E-mailed them on 20/08/12, again on 5th and 20th sept and no replies, no we should have received our six month update letter on 16th sept and that hasn't been sent so at this moment it doesn't feel like anyone at the FOS is updating people like they promise....

Sent another e-mail so we shall see, not holding my breath though....starting to lose faith it will ever be resolved :(
i am in exactly the same situation, my six month update was due 16th sept also, tried ringing today for an update and the recorded message has changed, basically it says they will be in touch, i realise there is a huge backlog but i know of cases that have been sbmitted after mine that have now been completed, getting a littel frustrating

I've just phoned them and they have said that they are just replying to e-mails/ letters that were sent on 1st aug, we were also told on 12th June that they had received the case file from Barclays but today they said they were still waiting for some information to be sent from Barclays. They also said that claims are going to take between 12-18 months to resolve so we will be contacting them again at the end of April 2013!! I can't believe it's taken that long especially as Barclays didn't uphold the claim even though they hadnt got the FOS Questionnaire from us...how is that possible??

Fingers crossed you get better news, keep me updated!!

We are in the same position, when we called the FOS for an update they said that they had all the paperwork and were waiting for an adjudicator - getting frustrated aswell! Will keep you updated if we hear anything
  • been reading these the last few days are little diamond and lyn853 still about?? wondered if they sorted yet?
  • I had a letter from Smile (Co-Operative Bank) yesterday. I sent them a letter a few weeks ago and received one back about 10 days ago saying they were looking into my complaint for the last 6 years' worth of PPI I was paying on a credit card.
I got the old statements through the data protection act last year but never got around to detailing all of the charges.
I expected about £1600 back or nothing at all.
Anyway, the letter that arrived yesterday said they are not satisfied that they have offered me the high level of service they would expect and as a gesture of goodwill, they are refunding my premiums with interest and backdating it all the way to 2000 when I took out my credit card initially.
The total amount I have been offered back is £4767.37. I have signed the acceptance form and the money should be in my bank account within 20 working days.
I'm well pleased. Getting into Barclays, Black Horse, Cahoot and Lombard Direct next...
