  • Congrats on your win emmareid12!
  • MBNA complaint upheld!

    1163 pounds cheque to follow...

and all for the price of a stamp and envelope!!
  • I filled in the form and sent it off to MBNA just last week.
Monday a letter came saying it would be looked into. Today had a letter saying I should expect a cheque for £1245.77 from them with in 28 days!!!!

I didn't think I would get anything so I'm so over the moon. It was my 18yr old son that kept nagging me to send off the form.

Thanks to this site I am a bit closer to being debt free.

Im sure years ago my Grattan catalogue did the same sort of thing and I was charged on my balance is it worth persuing?

Hi, Kuffs, did not take your post personally and I can understand your situation and frustration x.

This is the only part of the loan that you need to take into account, forget what has been paid, the surplus is all you need to care about.
Are you sure no interest was accruing on the PPI? it is mighty strange with SP that the interest is not still going on there.

With this PPI being Single Premium, when you cancelled the PPI they gave you a pro rata rebate of the PPI, the whole PPI amount is still on the loan to term end, this is why the SP PPI is unfair, the balance that is still there is just the remaining PPI after the rebate, had the company not gone bust when FOS upheld the mis sell, the whole PPI would have been taken off the balance and the loan would have cleared sooner.

Are FOS still saying the loan balance is correct at this stage? if they are you need to tell them this is SP PPI and the remaining PPI after the rebate at cancellation is still on the loan, they may understand this if you explain in simple terms to them, you were mis sold this and it needs to be addressed.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Amersall,

Thank you for your reply. This situation has been dragging on for far too long, and had GE Money not proven to be an utterly vile, arrogant, and frankly despicable group of people to deal with, it wouldn't be quite so difficult to communicate in a civil manner with them.

You're right that the PPI rebate GE Money received of £384.38 was marginally less than the £500+ it should have been, but te company were repaid the money; it never came to us. GE Money also told us that this would be deducted from the £15,526 expected upon full repayment as they had already received it. Since our repayments total £14,404.20 so far, there is just £737.42 to pay until that £15,141.62 has been repaid. They have thus far failed to justify expected repayments totallng £15,826, plus the £384.38 they have already received from Norton Finance, and I will not allow anyone to be manipulated like that because of this company's blatant greed and half-assed incompetence.
In case nobody has yet realised, I'm still furious that GE Money were willing to lend a ridiculous amount of money (£10,000) to a registered disabled person, whose only proof of income were letters detailing the state benefits she received. The FOS are dealing with it, it has reached an adjudicator. September 23rd 2012 marks that 60th payment date, by which time GE Money will have received £15,141.62. That is the equivalent of
    3 payments of £246.62 (=£739.86)
    12 payments of £252.84 (=£3034.08)
    45 payments of £261.16 (=£11 752.20)
minus the £384.38 rebate GE MONEY (not us) have already received.

Since we were only required to make 60 contractual payments, and that figure represents those 60 payments, they can go whistle for the rest, or accept £1.00 a week. I just can't believe that these companies are constantly allowed to get away with exploiting people.
  • I've written to Natwest requesting my loan account details and if PPI was paid. They have send me a letter today quoting only one account number and sort code. Does this mean PPI was paid? The loan was for ten grand... So i'm not sure where to go from here? Do i write to Natwest or phone the freephone number to register a complaint?

    Thank Terry :)

    Hey Guys,
I'm wondering if u think I could have a claim for this. A number of years ago I booked an appointment with a Halifax loan advisor to cancel my PPI, when I arrived I was faced with a panel of 4 people who proceeded to grill me as to why I wanted to cancel. They also asked whether my parents were wealthy as did I realise that if I died my debt would pass to my parents to pay off.

Needless to say I didn't cancel my PPI!
Is this worth persuing or is PPI claiming just for taking out at the beginning of a loan?

I posted this in June and made a claim, I had a reply yesterday the have offered £1,094.00. The have said I wasn't mis-sold PPI but the letter and report didn't mention the appointment that I'd had in the bank and the comments that the branch manager made to me. Do think I should appeal this as they don't seem to have investigated my actual complaint or should I accept the money?
Also the cheque arrived today so they haven't even given me chance to appeal!
Thanks for your advice in advance.

I posted this on the wrong thread last night! Amersall originally advised me in June and I'm hoping may be able to help please.

I got impatient as it's been going on since April and emailed the CEO on Thursday. Got an email back from a member of staff of customer services ppi relations. They were sorry to hear about my concerns and lack of support from staff on the phone (Manilla!) and have spoken to the review team and will get back to me in 10 days.

It may still be a rejection but at least it has speeded up the process!

Hi there, what is the email address for the CEO?
  • Hi there just to let you all know that i submitted a claim for ppi on a halifax credit card and halifax sent me a refusal letter. I sent back a second letter disagreeing with their letter and asking them to send me evidence that they complied wit regulations. Well I checked my credit card online yesterday and £900 has been credited!!!! Just shows you don't give up!!!!!
  • Just a quick question do l pay income tax at 29% on all the monies l recieved for the extra 8%.If so l am looking at giving the taxman over 1k:eek:
  • Had a mis-sold PPI for 15 years. cancelled it in dec 09 from both credit cards and wrote to bank to claim mis-selling. Was told after investigation that i had no case. Rang ombudsman who said the investigation may take some time...gave up as i could not be bothered with the hassle.
After reading everyones successes i decided to revisit the PPI mis-selling. Rang credit card company and explained i was and always had been self employed, was put straight through to PPI dept, details taken. 1 week later had confirmation they were looking into it. 6 weeks later had a letter offering £700!...result! Still have the other card to pay out on yet, thats the one i normally use too so hoping for a bit more yet.
Dont be put off by them saying no....they do it as most people like me just forget about it...even if they have said no before go back and claim again...they are more likely to agree a settlement now.
