had a couple of weeks ago the dreaded extra 8 weeks letter from lloyds.
rang them today for update and wished i had not they tell me that due to the loans pre 2000 they will FIND the paperwork to make their decision and it might well take them the full extra 8 weeks that takes it to mid october.rather worrying i think0 -
I've also received a reply from Firstplus about a secured loan. They are upholding my complaint and are refunding me a very large amount. Have felt sick ever since
Once they send you the letter asking for your signature, is there any way they will get out of the decision?
This amount will make us almost debt free, have never been debt free in my entire adult life!:silenced:0 -

Your help is much appreciated thanks0 -
PPI Experiences to date
1.Halifax credit card - rang in March 2012 to say I believed that I was mis-sold PPI, my grounds were that a I was a public servant and my terms and conditions were such that I would never have been required to claim on the policy. All details taken over the phone and they did not require me to complete any forms. Had a acknowledgement within 10 days, a phone call to ask me a question to back up my original comments in week 5. Just before week 8 had a letter advising my complaint had been upheld and a refund plus interest of £ 12,000. V V happy
Husband is self employed and two credit cards with PPI - one HSBC and one with Egg. Completed questionnaire from this website for both, and using various comments from previous contributors to assist/help me set out what our issues were.
Initial HSBC response was a standard rejection just before 8 wek deadline, but letter was poorly drafted, e.g talked about his "employer and payment of sick pay" even though he has always been self employed. Responded with a 14 day letter advising them to re-consider or we will go to FOS. One week left to go on this deadline.
Egg took nearly 12 weeks to respond but have now written to uphold the complaint and will be paying £ 5,500.
Interesting both HSBC and Egg sited the same reasons in their responses i.e. unable to establish how product was sold, could not locate original documentation etc etc but Egg accepts their responsibilities and HSBC have not.
Hopefully HSBC will see the error of their ways but if they do not we will not hesitate to take this further.
I, like thousands of others, will forever be indebted to Martin Lewis and website for giving the courage to the "little man" to take on the banks, with the confidence of knowing that they are wrong and we are right.
My advice to anyone who has been sold PPI incorrectly - be determined, have a little patience, do read through the experiences of others on this forum, as it will help you find the right words when communicating with these huge organisations, in a language they can understand. Most of all do not give up until all options have been exhausted. you have absolutely nothing to lose.0 -
Am really pleased for everyone who has been successful reclaiming money back. I however have been unsuccessful! I have tried to reclaim on Welcome finance loan and Black horse loan and been told that I was sold the policy fairly. I also tried to claim back money from Regency mortgage as I actually thought the policy I was paying for was for building insurance but still nothing. So whe you see the adverts on TV saying 9 out of 10 people get money back, spare a thought for me as I am number 10!!!0

I would not believe those adverts it is more like 6 out of 10 and you need strong reasons ie not hearsay. The strongest reason for mis sell on a loan being if it was front loaded and is the most upheld by the FOS.0 -
