  • Hi
don,t know if i have posted to the right place but looking for a little help. back in feb my o/h made a claim to lloyds a week later got a letter back to say that they were looking in to claim. aweek after that someone called from lloyds to ask him why he was missold told him that he worked for council full sick pay we had life insurance and good redundency package and also that this was a frontloaded loan and at the time only wife was in the bank and she was asked to take paper work home for me to sign. we have phone the ppi line almost every week to be told that this is still being delt with. then about five weeks ago a guy said that the claim had been upheld but gone to other dept in be callcllated. five weeks on called again to day to be told the same thing. not sure what to do now as 6 months have passed no letter to confirm that claim has been up held
  • I recently reclaimed £1800 in miss sold Ppi from beneficial finance (now HFCs bank)
I phoned them initially to obtain my reference numbers as I had lost my paperwork. They informed me I had 2 accounts with them. One for a loan and another for goods on hp through currys. I explained I was looking to reclaim my Ppi on the loan as I believed it was miss sold. They took some brief details and said they would send a questionnaire in the post.

Before I had even sent the questionnaire back, they sent me a letter explaining they had investigated my complaint an it had been upheld. As a result they were repaying my Ppi plus interest on both my loan and my purchases from currys (which I hadn't even complained about!)

All it took was 1 brief phone call and I got back £1800! Success!!

    • What were you reclaiming: Flexiloan 2002-2012
    • Who was the provider: HSBC
    • How much did you get back: £1800 (£2500)
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One Phone Call
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
During a phone conversation about another PPI complaint asked HSBC to investigate my Flexiloan. 7 weeks later had a letter detailing complaint upheld and redress paid between Jan 2005 and Aug 2012. Sent back copies of Bank statements proving payments going back to 2002, now waiting for a re-calculation.

Nightmare :). originally sent copies of three loan agreements, all bank statements, copy of FOS questionairre and covering letter. 4 weeks after reciept rang for update to find claim had been cancelled due to "no PPI existing" got the person on the phone to read loan agreements, huge apology, claim re-opened. 8 weeks later offer letter for full redress on all three loans also taking into account the 1997 loan was a consolidation of the 1996 loan.

What were you reclaiming: Loan which had been consolidated 3 times and perhaps PPI on a credit card. A bit unclear about exact split of PPI and interest and whether the money that we received included our claim on our credit card too. As the money has gone straight into my husbands account and we haven't received a letter yet.
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: Over £13,500 which we hadn't calculated, we worked out from what we knew that it would be at least £7500. But he did consolidate his loan 3 times and there is the interest on top of that too, so really surprised especially since the money has gone to my husband's account before he has received any confirmation in writing.
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: We wrote a covering letter which was a sample from this website and sent that in with the PPI claim form, with a claim for mis selling because it was a single premium policy. After 4 received a standard letter saying they had received the complaint and they were looking into it. After 9 weeks a further letter saying that due to high numbers of claims at the moment, it may take upto 16 weeks to hear back from at most. At 13 and half weeks the money has gone into my husbands account, but have received no letter from the bank yet. Hopefully we will over the next few days. Really happy and now we may be able to move house. 14 weeks ago I sent HSBC a SAR request and i still haven't received received anything back from them. i have phoned twice and have been assured that they are getting the information which I have asked for. But yet still nothing. I'm just wondering whether to just forget about the SAR and complete the claim form which I printed off this website. My local branch confirmed that I had paid PPI on 7 consolidated loans. I never I even consolidated my loan that many times let alone having had PPI on them. Do you think this is the way forward?

Hi congrats on your success with lloyds.
Re your HSBC claim, my advice, for what its worth, would be to get your SAR before complaining.
I know from experience that you only get one chance to present your claim. If you are armed with all facts, loan dates, etc then you can present a robust claim.
You should have received your SAR within 40 days, keep chasing this.
The few days/weeks you spend chasing your SAR would be dwarfed by the 12-18 months you would have to wait with the FOS if you give HSBC any room to reject your claim.
Im no expert, others on here with more knowledge may help you further, but thats the way i would go.
    Good Luck.
  • I have today been told over the phone that a letter from Barclays for my Egg Credit Card PPI claim was sent out on 21 August (not yet received), rejecting my claim, and the reasons are pretty much identical to those quoted in post 31421 above (too long to repeat here).

So that's my Barclaycard and my Egg card rejected. Letters to FOS will be written this weekend, methinks.
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2

Hi, Kuffs, did not take your post personally and I can understand your situation and frustration x.
April 2011 PPI cancelled, rebate of £384.38 repaid to GE Money. PPI policy no longer active, no longer accruing interest.

This is the only part of the loan that you need to take into account, forget what has been paid, the surplus is all you need to care about.
Are you sure no interest was accruing on the PPI? it is mighty strange with SP that the interest is not still going on there.

With this PPI being Single Premium, when you cancelled the PPI they gave you a pro rata rebate of the PPI, the whole PPI amount is still on the loan to term end, this is why the SP PPI is unfair, the balance that is still there is just the remaining PPI after the rebate, had the company not gone bust when FOS upheld the mis sell, the whole PPI would have been taken off the balance and the loan would have cleared sooner.

Are FOS still saying the loan balance is correct at this stage? if they are you need to tell them this is SP PPI and the remaining PPI after the rebate at cancellation is still on the loan, they may understand this if you explain in simple terms to them, you were mis sold this and it needs to be addressed.
    Hope this helps.

Do you mean the PPI that is still on the loan to term end with interest? you have the cashback but if the loan is still running the whole PPI is still on the loan to be paid back with interest.

If this is what you mean, put a claim in for mis sell of the PPI this was Single Premium PPI and you now have no PPI cover but are still paying this back.

Hi everyone, I'm after a little advice if possible. I filled out a PPI standard questionnaire at the end of June in respect of a personal loan I took out with M&S Money in 2001. I definitely had PPI on the loan and have today received a rejection letter.
I am surprised that due to the year they did not tell you they were not regulated and you have no claim.
Contact FOS and ask what you can do, they may suggest the insurer route.
If you paid the ppi in one monthly payment with the loan, this is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason that you use if you can chase the insurer as the insurer may have been regulated at the time.
