Ideally, you want both the account number and the policy number. If you don't have the policy number, contact the Bank and ask them otherwise you'll likely delay your complaint.
Are you certain you had PPI?

You don't need a policy number, if they find the account they will find the PPI, I have had several claims and not one policy number was needed :D

    hi

I was looking for some advise if anyone can help. I recently sent 3 completed questionnaires to Bank of Scotland with reference to the mis-selling of PPI. I received a rejection letter for 1 of them stating that the found no evidence of the policy being mis-sold to us. I sent them another letter on Thursday stating that we had 4 loans with a single premium policy for each 1 dating from 2001 - 2006 all of which were reconsolidated from the previous loan.
In 2009 I made a claim to Bank of Scotland for the mis-selling of the only 1 I thought we had with them and they upheld the complaint! How is it possible to be sold each of them in the exact same way and for 1 to be upheld and another to rejected? Also was I right to send them another letter or should I have just contacted the FSA? There was no mention of the letter being a final response. Thank you in advance for any response.
See what they come back with, if they still reject then send this to FOS.

    I said "ideally".:p
It's also useful to know this because it confirms PPI was definitely set up.
I do agree the Bank should be able to link the account numbers, but again as I said, it could cause unnecessary delay.

    Looking for some advice

My husband and I took out a loan with GE Money in Jan 2004 for £15,000 we contacted them by phone and everything was done over the phone they then sent out paperwork by courier and asked us to sign all the places that were marked with a x which we did and it was returned by the courier and after a few days we had the loan it was to be paid back over 60 months, ending in Jan 2009.
We struggled with the payments and spoke to our mortgage lender who agreed to give us a loan against our morgage to pay it off in full we did this in june 2006.
After reading about PPI being miss sold we decieded to contact GE Money to find out if PPI was added to the loan we took out in 2004.
I phoned them and they confirmed that it had, I asked them to send out a claim form to claim it back they asked why and I explained we never asked for it (I have health issues and it would not have paid out even if we knew it had been added on).
I recieved a letter confirming that we had PPI on the loan but as it was taken out in 2004 we were too late to claim it back:mad::mad:
If we had not paid the loan off in full in 2006 the loan would not have been paid until 2009, it seems we are being punished because we paid it off early.
I then sent a letter back to them requesting a copy of the loan agreement and the terms which I have just recieved they added £2,500 for PPI!!!!!!:mad: which we never knew about.

Would it be worthwhile writing back to them and trying to get our money back or am I just wasting my time I feel we are being punished because we paid off the loan early.:(
Any advice would be appreciated .

Give the FOS a call, see if you can go for the insurer.

  • Hi , Firstly thanks to all for supporting my girlfriends ppi claims which so far have given her £600.

A Question I have is I have been with Barclays bank over many years and possibly paid ppi on loans around 10 to 15 years ago with them. I have no records of anything but is it worth a speculative letter, if so is there a template ?

Thanks in advance even if the answer is No !

    Yes- definitely worth a go.
I sent an email to my bank(First Direct), asking if I had ever had PPI on my credit card. They confirmed I had not, but alerted me to the fact that I had had PPI on 2 loans in the past.
I had not made any enquiry about loans.

  • Great news - finally heard today from BoS that they have upheld my complaint on my CC :D I had a credit put in almost 5 weeks ago totalling just under £11k and as Amersall knows I could hardly breathe waiting on confirmation. Am just so delighted, for the first time in 24 years I don't have a balance on my card :D Onwards and upwards. Thanks everyone :T
