PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi there
Just fill out the form and send it off! I had a loan with EGG same time as a credit card. They upheld the Loan complaint - (I didnt have statements). The EGG card complaint I am sending off to FOS as refused to uphold my complaint for that!!
A good friend of mine has received over £10000 from Tesco and Barclays by just filling out the form. She said the Tesco Credit Card was really old and she had no paperwork at all!!
Good luck x
Hi Moose2003.
Said i'd update you further to the FOS upholding my claim against MBNA.
10 week clock started for MBNA on 27 July giving 10 week to make an offer, received an offer today very happy with it, cheque payment will be sent out within 28 days
Keep the faith we can all do this without claim companies just need a little patience at times

Sweatpea67 wrote: »My claim with MBNA was upheld on 4 July, I rang last friday for an update, figures not sent for calculation and was told it is likely to take the full 12 weeks due to the amount of claims in process :-(
Result! Cheque arrived today - £3097.66. I estimated I paid £1550 in PPI between May 2002 and March 2010 when I paid the card off.
Timeline - claim sent 8/6/12, letter upholding 4/7/12. Full settlement today. No breakdown of figures but more than happy with that figure.
Reason I consider missold (would like to know out of curiousity why upheld!) but I work in public sector, 6 mths full pay/6 months half pay, life cover etc but i think it was more to do with the application process - paper application filled in at a pop concert and in a rush! But all immaterial now.
3 more claims in - Capital One CC . Barclaycard (their 8 weeks was up today) and a Burtons Store card, though not as hopeful with BC and Burtons.
Took me a few hours of research on here to do all 4 claims - but well worth it. Thanks everyone for your posts and experiences, gives a lot of hope and confidence to those who would not have otherwise tried doing it for themselves.
Added bonus is that Barclays are now going to have to pay me interest on this money whilst it sits in my savings account - a double whammy for the Bank!0 -

Many thanks for the update - so pleased for you!
Weirdly I had a very brief 3 line letter from MBNA dated 25th July (came on Saturday) saying they were giving themselves 28 days to look at my complaint again!!!
Well I have no idea what's going on, so I'll just leave things as they are with the FOS... just in case.
All the best and again thanks for your support.0 -
Hi Newbie here,
Silly question, but can't seem to find it on here. Is there a limit to how many claims you make? I have a couple... two with Peugeot Finance, and a couple with HFC Bank via Currys? :embarasse
Kind regards
I have had results for over 20 mis-sold policies for both myself and my wife. All sucessful . Total so far £39,000 plus. Waiting for a further 4 which are unexpected.0 -
- What were you reclaiming: Loan
- Who was the provider: Egg
- How much did you get back: £4,700
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent a standard questionaire to them direct
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
I claimed because I got the hard sell for PPI over the phone after applying for a loan for £25k - I paid the loan early as I got a staff rate elsewhere, and I always regretted giving in to taking the sickness and death cover out - I was covered by work, but I was desperate for the loan. So still got over £4.5k back so I was really chuffed.
I would encourage anyone to do it for themselves - what's the worst that can happen? They say no, and you can take it further or leave it. The best - nice fat cheque! I would also encourage people to do it sooner rather than later as these companies are currently overwhelmed - once they get a handle on it I think they will become better at defending themselves!:)
How long did it take to receive your cheque?0 -
After having my Sainsbury's credit card ppi claim rejected, I half expected my Sainsbury's loan ppi app ( which were applied for at the same time) to be rejected. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I opened a letter, saying my complaint had been upheld and I was due for a £10.5k rebate ( you can imagine the smile I am wearing at the moment. The letter also stated that my Halifax credit card app had been upheld, I already knew this as they had paid it straight into my credit account. I certainly wasnt expecting a Joint letter as applications were sent separately, and also different companies - but it came under Bank of Scotland Headed paper.
So to date ( figures approx):
Barclays Loan : £1300
MBNA CC: £4061
MBNA CC: £650
Halifax CC: £2755
Sainsburys CC: Rejected : Letter sent back rejecting the outcome
Sainsburys Loan: £10, 500
Asda CC: Still waiting
Creation Finance Store card ( Adams): Still waiting
Barclays Overdraft x 2: Still waiting.
And all using templates off this siteI take great pleasure when I receive CMCs call, and my response " I am claiming independently and have no need or requirement to use a CMC thats going to take great pleasure in keeping MY money" Trust me they dont stay on the phone long
To say the least I am a very happy bunny.0 -

Likewise - thought I would have to wait the 12 weeks after checking with you guys last week only to find a cheque on my doorstep last Saturday for £6900
I sent off four complaints, two loans and two cards (Natwest, Egg, Virgin and Mint respectively) and all four were upheld :j :j0 -

Hi Moose
Not sure what the letter is maybe one of the more knowledgeable posters can help with that.
If your complaint is with the FOS leave it with them and i hope you have a positive result from it
I'll post on here when the cheque arrives and what it's timescales were.0 -
