PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

We tried to claim PPI from HFC for a loan that my husband had taken out a few years ago. PPI was mentioned on the settlement statement (we paid the loan off early). Our claim has been rejected on the grounds that, although a monthly premium insurance policy was paid, when the final balance was settled they credited £54.10 to the account, which they say equalled the total amount paid towards PPI and we were therefore not at a financial disadvantage. Does the fact that it was repaid mean that we can't claim to have been mis-sold in the first place or is this just a ploy to fob us off?0

:j Postman just brought upheld letter from an Egg CC only 6 weeks since sending our form in not a massive win but a win just the same, just waiting on Lloyds now (been 9 weeks so far) and a Barclaycard claim that has been sent to FOS. Thanks again to all on here for encouraging me to send my claims in. Total won so far £6200!! :beer:0

Just had a rejection letter from RBS saying the policy was fair because the application was completed by hand and that my mrs opted in by ticking a box.
RBS have sent the original application form which backs this up but the wording on the form indicates that "we strongly recommend that you take out this policy".
Now to me this indicates that the application is more likely to be accepted if this is signed.
Have I a valid claim with the ombudsman??0 -
Hello, I am after a little advice if anyone could help me please?....well here goes... I'm a newbie so please bear with!....
I wrote to Egg asking for a full breakdown and a copy of my loan agreement for a credit card account which closed in 2009. I sent them a cheque for 10 pound as the account is closed. They have cashed the cheque and have sent me all the statements for the 2 year period that the account was active which clearly state that PPI was paid, but have sent me another letter saying that they are under no obligation to provide a copy of the loan agreement as the account is now closed??
I'm not quite sure what my next move needs to be?! I'm contemplating filling in the questionnaire anyway and trying to claim with just the statements???
Any ideas will be most welcome!
Thank you
Just fill out the form and send it off! I had a loan with EGG same time as a credit card. They upheld the Loan complaint - (I didnt have statements). The EGG card complaint I am sending off to FOS as refused to uphold my complaint for that!!
A good friend of mine has received over £10000 from Tesco and Barclays by just filling out the form. She said the Tesco Credit Card was really old and she had no paperwork at all!!
Good luck x0 -
Hi all
I had my loan and cc ppi rejected as I was too vague in my initial complaint. I sent back 7 valid points for mis sell inc. life cover, full employee benefits etc...
I sent this second letter on 5th July, how long would I expect to hear from them for a second decision?
On hols at the moment so haven't rang them although I find that's hit or miss as nearly had a heart attack when the man from manilla said they were processing my payment.....oops sorry I mean claim!!
Has anyone else had a preliminary decision overturned and what were the time frames?
Thanks0 -

Hi All ,this is one of my first posts here and want to let you all know that i have been successful in a PPI claim from Egg loans.
I had a loan for 10k back in 2002, paid ppi on it ever since and didnt even know i had it on there (as do alot us us).
One PPI form and 7 weeks later and had a settlement payout of £5900.00, i have not had the cheque delivered just jet but did send the letter registered post.
This now means with the money coming back i can pay off all my outstanding debts that have been hanging over me for years. So my debt free date is looking to be the end of this month sometime.
I have read on here for so long and everyone is so helpful with responses etc.
many thanks0 -

Refer your complaint to FOS.0 -

Hi I posted my ppi goodwill offers on the ppi reclaiming discussion part 5 board and think I should have put them on here. I was looking for advice on whether or not they are right or refer them to FOS.
Hopefully somebody can shed more light on them, hopefully Amersall or moneyeptitude etc, you all seem to know more about it.
How can I post them to here instead. They are on page 222 no's 4433,4435,4436,4437,4439,4440.
I really don't think the sums are right and although it is good news my claim is upheld I don't want to accept if I have paid out more than I am offered back.
Thanks0
