Thanks moneyineptitude but surely I should be compensated for this as they are not putting me back in the position I would have been if I had not had the ppi it doesn't seem fair. I am being left financially disadvantaged:(

You are getting 8% monthly for the PPI money. does this not cover the cost of your interest on your mortgage?

Plus sadly you decided to add the loan to your mortgage which meant you were paying interest over 30 years. It possibly more financially savvy to have kept it separate but I know all circumstances are different.

  • Fair point and yes the 8% would just cover the interest payments I didn't really have a choice but to add it to my mortgage at the time still a feel as if I'm being ripped off as I would have recieved the 8% even if I hadn't added it to my mortgage. I accept that they wouldn't pay the interest for the whe term of my mortgage only until they settled and then it would be up to me to pay it off my mortgage. Perhaps I am just expecting too much.:(

After last weeks rejection from lloyds i have written back and asked them to re-consider as it was single premium and i was unaware of the unfair rebate,
    My questions are,

1 What sort of timescale am i looking at for a response? is it another 8 weeks or are there no guidelines?

2 Has anyone had any experience of lloyds changing their minds? or am i just going through the motions before going to the fos?

Sadly I think you are, however on the bright side you could use any money that you might get back to reduce your mortgage unless of course you have higher borrowing costs elsewhere.

Looking for any advice please.....took out a debenhams store card in 1995 was pressured into taking ppi protection and accepted. I cancelled 5 years later and have recently put in a claim for misold ppi. It was rejected on the grounds that I ticKed the ppi box. Do you think I can pursue this claim further as they have said that they are closing this case now

    Hi Blessed,
I am about to go through all our old loans \ cards \ mortgages etc to check for ppi mis selling. My wife had exactly the same issue with her Debenhams store card. Who did you write to as i was under the impression that GE Capital no longer exist. (sorry if this info is elsewhere im a newbie)

I would also be interested in the answer to this; had a card which at various times the company changed from a debenhams to a burton to a top shop card - can't remember in which order. The only paperwork I have left is a statement from the Arcadia Group.

Arcadia group is the topshop burton bhs etc. Google it and you will see it is actually a large collection of high street chains, not helpful on the finance but at least you know what they are.

Used the pre-laid out letter to contact Santandare at the start of June for a loan I took out with Alliance and Liecster in 2004 to pay for my wedding. Recieved the standard thanks for your letter reply from them 4 weeks later. Then 2 weeks after that they have offered me a full refund of the PPI I paid, plus interest at 8% per year. Also they have refunded a prior loan I had forgoten about from 2003 and hadn't claimed for, the grand total refunded came to £4701.05.

I would advise anyone who hasnt claimed yet to take advantage of Martins letter, it takes you about 20 minutes to fill out and as you can see above it pays off, and no 30% charge to pay to some other company.

Yes, thanks I did know that, just don't know whether to put my claim into one of the companies or Arcadia as the parent company? And if so, can't remember which company I actually signed into initally. Cheers!!

    Think it may be Santander.
