Hi, wonder if anyone can help, i have the original agreements from when i opened my store cards with dorothy perkins, evans and debenhams, i also have a few statements from each and i can see i was indeed paying ppi on them all, which i was unaware of, they were all paid off in 2006, can i ring up and ask about claiming back the ppi on these cards due to the fact i did'nt know about it? thanks.
Put the complaint in look here for other reasons for mis sell

This PPI would have been on every monthly statement you received so you would have to put why you did not know about it.
  • sent off for an old store card ppi claim which we were not aware we had until this site helped us to investigate it and after 6 weeks we recieved a letter showing us where we signed for it and then told that we should have cancelled it in 30 days cool off time...............thing is though we cant remember signing for it we obviously did as they sent back a very blured copy showing the tick and signature. signed the credit agreement for a 5 grand limit with b and q we were told by the sales person to sign for it as we would probably not get the store card ........in 2002 our brains did not tick as well as now and we were more interested in getting the store card but felt we were missold the ppi.
although ge capital are saying they have no record of how we were sold the ppi do you think we should go further and go the fos ?????? my husband says i should just leave it i feel he was missold due to the pushy salesperson
    what do you think ??

I am just a little nervous that if I put in a claim it will have an effect on my account.
It should not have any effect on your account at all, put the complaint in, you only need the card number and reasons for mis sell ask them to cancel the PPI.

If this was not a final response, write back to Ge and reject the reasons they will not uphold and show you could have paid the card in any circumstance and had no need of the PPI, if you had good sick pay scheme, life insurance or other means to repay this debt.
What the salesperson said is not a reason for mis sell as this is your word against theirs and hearsay so don't use this.

If the letter is a final response then send it to FOS.

I know it has been received as sent recorded delivery but I have yet to have my confirmation letter of complaint received. Website advises 5 working days. Good start.
You will receive an acknowledgement, they have 8 weeks anyway to give you a final response, with the claim going recorded delivery and as to be signed for, this could have delayed it as it will take time to get to the department that deals with complaints as they may not have signed for this.
Give them a call and ask if they received it and if it is being dealt with.

Hi Amersall and thank you for your reply, i went through the mis-selling checklist yesterday and then wrote a letter which i also posted yesterday, i put in my letter that at the point of sale there was no mention of account cover being taken out along with the storecard therefor no mention of a cooling off period either, also that i am and was at the time self employed and that i was at no point asked any questions regarding my employment status, which if i am right there should have been? Anyway il update here when i have a response, thanks again x
  • Because of the advice i read on this website, I managed to claim back PPI and with this i have managed to pay off all my debt, very pleased obviously.............. so wanted to say thanks to money saving expert! for giving me the courage and information to do this cheers!!! and to everyone who is doubting whether they should......... go for it, you have nothing to lose!:kisses3:

Let it go, keep copies of the letters that you have sent, especially the recorded one and let them get in touch with you, I know it was not delivered but it proves you sent it.

If they try strong arm tactics and threaten you then give it them with both barrels and show you tried to contact them to no avail and put a complaint in.

I put in a claim to Shop Direct Finance Ltd in early April to reclaim account cover that I had been paying for six years. I could not remember taking out this cover and it certainly wasn't suitable for my needs. After 8 weeks they had not reached a decision and so I wrote to the ombudsman. Two weeks later I received a cheque for £3000.00 from Shop Direct so I can cancel my complaint with the ombudsman. :j:j:j:j:j
