PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Long time reader, first time responder.
I never realised I even had PPI on my Barclaycard until just over a 7 months ago. I was about to go away travelling for 6 months and I contacted Baclays to let them know I would be away and not to block my card or anything.
The person tried to be a salesperson after helping me and asked me how my insurance was and was it meeting my needs.
I explained it was the first I knew but as I hadn't asked for it could it be cancelled. As I was away from the next day my complaint had to wait.
Anyways, fast forward 6 months and I am back and getting life back on track and finally sent off my claim.
It has been over 3 weeks now, I know it has been received as sent recorded delivery but I have yet to have my confirmation letter of complaint received. Website advises 5 working days. Good start.
Worth waiting longer or give them a nudge to find out more?0 -
Give them a nudge, there is no harm in doing so!0

Hi, I have been a browser of this site for some months and have been inspired by you all to put in a claim.
I had PPI on my MBNA and HSBC credit card for almost 10 years which I cancelled a couple of years ago. With MBNA I cannot remember how I applied for the card but when trawling through old paperwork (10 years of cc statments) I found a PPI acceptance document which I have never signed or returned. Also due to medical history I would not have been covered.
I am just a little nervous that if I put in a claim it will have an effect on my account.
Any help would be appreciated xx:)0 -

I have a offer letter on its way (posted 7 days ago!) from NatWest.
Just wondered once i have sent the acceptance back how long it will take to get the cheque?
How long have people waited from NatWest?0 -

Hi, I recently got a refund from Natwest, They took about a week from when they received my acceptance form to put the money in my account. I got a text from them the day they received the acceptance form and a text from them on the day they paid me the money. Hope you dont have to wait too long, but i couldnt fault them!0 -

Thanks, I will contact providers and find out how the cards were applied for and how I was signed up for the PPI. I am sure I would not have agreed to PPI due to medical history.0 -
What were you reclaiming: loan
Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £8450.00
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: just sent a meassage on the internet, didnt even cost me for a stamp!
And then write your brief reclaim tale
A friend of mine had a succesful claim a few weeks back and encouraged me to go for it, what have i got to lose??
I sent a very brief internet message saying i believe i was mis sold ppi as i was told i had more chance of being succesful with my application, and left it at that, no loan numbers or anything. I got a letter through about 5 days later saying they were looking into 3 previous loans i had with them. I thought great, just wait now. In the mean time i discovered this website and began reading all posts, The word front loading kept cropping up, and i didnt have a clue what it was, so i looked into it. I then dug out my old policys (along with an old Black Horse one) and there it was, front loading on all of them. I then sent back the questionaire hsbc had sent me stating this as another reason i was mis sold, that was Wednesday last week, and yesterday morning (Tuesday) i received a letter saying my claim had been upheld and they were paying me £8450!! I had to sit down haha. I thought even if my claim is upheld i would be looking at about £4000, i never dreamed i would get so much. I can now wipe out all credit cards and catalogues and will be about £400-500 a month better off. Happy?? just a bit :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::D:D:D:D:D:D i am still waitning on the black horse reply, only sent that last week and its on a lot smaller scale, but for exactly the same reasons, so fingers crossed. Thanks to everyone who posts on this site just for posting, it helped me and hopefully will help loads of others.
I sent my acceptance off yesterday and cant wait to get started wiping out them credit cards!
Can i also point out HSBC have been brilliant so far, i know not everyone has such an easy ride, but keep going0 -
Thanks again for your reply you are a so helpful on here to everyone! :A I just want to make sure this is correct. Even though this was a postal app the box was ticked by myself apparently for BP this is not a problem?0

we made countless phone calls sent letters and this has been going on for 7 months .all we want to do is PAY THEM and they do not seem to want it .
we sent a recorded delivery letter to hmrc yesterday it was going to be delivered before 1 pm today so what did royal mail do they tried to deliver before they had got out of bed about 8 am and will not try again
letter now going around royal mail system its off to belfast for it to sent back to us in about 2 weeks.MORONS. so then we start again.
If they try strong arm tactics and threaten you then give it them with both barrels and show you tried to contact them to no avail and put a complaint in.
