PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

  • What a crock! I got a reply from Barclays today upholding my claim for PPI on a loan, and enclosing a scruffy handwritten cheque for £243.32.
Nowhere in their letter do they give a breakdown of how they got to that amount (original figure on the loan documentation was £1,013,78 before interest was added).
More importantly, I have no idea how much of this measly cheque was the 8% interest which I need to declare to the tax man!
Nor do they state whether they've reduced my loan outstanding figure by the amount of the PPI!
The phone just rings constantly when I try and contact them.

The 2nd letter from them was for my claim on my credit cards (Barclays and Egg). They say that due to the volume of cases, there's a delay in responding. So I shall be patient and hold tight.
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2

But this subject is now off-topic and not related to this particular thread, so it's best closed at this point
Any type of insurance that was mis sold is related to this thread :D this may help anyone else who may have this cover and want to reclaim.

They will send the calculations later, if you think they are wrong you can go back to them.

As this loan is still running there will PPI on there that you have not actually paid yet, how long was the term of this loan and how many months PPI have you paid? as you only get back PPI that you have actually paid, they will reset the loan and they will reduce the loan balance by the whole PPI amount.

What were you reclaiming: Loan Protection insurance
Who was the provider: Capital One
How much did you get back: £1440.75
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I got a letter from Cap One saying my complaint was upheld.
And then write your brief reclaim tale I trawled through my old paperwork and found my original credit agreement for this loan. I then printed off Martin's template for the questionnaire and completed it and sent it off recorded delivery, using the correspondence address on the Cap One website. The Cap One website says it could be up to 8 weeks to resolve complaints. It took longer than this. They will send a letter acknowledging receipt of your complaint, then the decision will follow be patient.

Be aware you may have to pay tax on the 8% simple interest and the onus is on you to contact hmrc. Also, they only provide you with the basic figures for their calculation e.g. premiums, interest and 8% simple interest not a complete breakdown.

I have been in contact with RBS regarding my old NatWest loans.
I called them Friday and was told an offer letter had been sent out on the 29th June.
I called them again yesterday to confirm this and was told once again the letter had been sent out on 29th June.
I asked if they could tell me how much the offer was for but they said they could'nt as they dont have access to that information.
How long have people waited for their offer letters to come?
I am moving abroad in 5 weeks and really would like this sorted before i leave.
I have claims in with Egg and HSBC too and after a call with them have found out they are investigating the issue.
Should i call them back and explain that i am moving abroad and if possible if they could speed it up or do you think that would make them put the brakes on so they dont have to pay me?
