    Amersall,

Just woundered if you could help. I have had a rejection letter from Barclays stating they explained everything to me and sent the paperwork in post for the ppi. On the letter it implies that i went into branch but doesnt state it clearly how it was sold and they havent sent the signed agreement back to me. I am 100% certain i did not go into branch to do this but it may have been done over phone or internet not quite sure which one. I am going to write back to ask them to reconsider but not sure what to say. Can you help please.

    Thank you in advance

Sorry i forgot to mention, nothing was explained to me about how much it would cost nor what it was for and whether i was suitable for it.

I doubt you'll get them to reconsider on this basis. You're not sure how you applied, but think the Bank is wrong that you went into Branch.
Look at the Bank's reasons for rejecting you rather than concentrating on their detail of the physical circumstances. If you did take out the loan (or credit card) online, then that actually weakens your case because it would then be deemed a "non-advised" sale in which you mis-bought rather than were mis-sold.

Your next move is to the Ombudsman:

My recent experience might help you with this one. At the time I was looking carefully at the PPI First Direct mis-sold me (a big win), I noticed that I was paying out an annual card protection fee as well, to the tune of about £30 a year for I don't now how many years. I took a bit of a punt with this one because I had no recall of the circumstances in which it was (mis)sold. All I did was send an e-mail to end the policy and making a complaint - no form, no phone call, no details really because FD could see how much I'd been paying and for how long. So this complaint didn't even cost me a stamp. I got an acknowledgement pretty quickly and then 6 weeks later a resolution. They did not accept that the policy was mis-sold blah blah etc etc, but they were prepared to make a goodwill gesture of £230. Compared to the PPI, this was a small but perfectly formed win. So, yes, it's possible to complain about mis-selling of any insurance policy.

Hi could you tell me how long you had to wait for First Direct claim to be settled as I have a claim ongoing with them, Many Thanks

    :)
The comment from Amersall you replied to here was itself a reply to someone with CREDIT CARD PPI which does indeed always show on monthly statements.
Loans are different, especially where the PPI is front-loaded into a single monthly premium.
The response was to me :D I did have PPI on a loan I had and, as mentioned, that was in one payment at the start (although to cpmplicate things further the paperwork I have detailing the PPI is for an extension to a loan I took out so I don't know how much ppi I paid on the initial loan. If that makes sense). Anyway, the ppi I was querying was on credit cards and the fact that I couldn't see it on the statements that I have, although I don't have any paperwork for one of them so we will see what happens. Thanks for all of your help :)

Not quite. Its in reply to Natalie who states "on a number of credit cards and a loan"

I dont know how to make the "loan" part bold likeyou have with credit card in your quote, but i assume you can see thats the relevant word without me making it bold ;)

They cannot say " we sent you the literature in the post " as a reason for rejecting.
Is this a loan or Credit Card? and what specifically were the reasons they rejected?.
Did you send the agreement to them with your claim? if you did I hope you sent a copy.
    • What were you reclaiming: loan
    • Who was the provider: Cahoot (now Santander)
    • How much did you get back: £3233
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Not even a letter - just 2 phonecalls!
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I don't think my claim process could have been any easier. I knew I'd had PPI on an old Cahoot flexi loan as I remember cancelling it when I realised my balance was hardly going down. The loan started in 2002 and was settled in 2008. I wasn't sure exactly how long I'd had PPI for or how much it was and I didn't even know my account number!

Anyway around 3 weeks ago I phoned the Santander complaints department and got put through to the PPI claims team. I explained that I no longer knew my account number but they took as many details as I could give and said they would get back to me within a couple of days. After nearly a week they hadn't phoned so I rung them back and spoke to a different guy and again he promised to look into it and get back to me. A couple of days later he phoned me back and said it would take another week to investigate as my account had been archived.

That was the last I heard about it until yesterday when a letter landed on my doormat stating that they had concluded their investigations and would like to re-imburse me to the tune of £3233! I was completely shocked, firstly at how easy the whole process was (not even a single form to fill in) but also at how much the payment was for. The interest alone was more than I originally paid for the PPI.

It just goes to show that it really is worth making that phonecall. You may not know whether you had PPI, or even know your account details but just phone, what have you got to lose!

Hi everyone, new to this but been reading for a while.

This forum has helped a lot with regards to my PPI claim. When I first received HSBC questionnaire I was close to just binning it because I thought nothing would come of it, but i thought no i'll read MSE first and see if others had the same.

Well to my look others had and had filled it in and sent it back, so I did the same. An as of the 30th June I got an offer from HSBC for nearly £1,500, so all i can say is thank you to these forums, because that questionnaire was very close to being binned ha.

I sent the acceptance yesterday so hopefully they'll pay out pretty quickly.

By any chance does anyone know how quickly HSBC operate in terms of paying out, the letter says within 4 weeks, so im thinking it'll be on exactly the 28th day after receiving my letter, but if anyone can help that would be great.

My birthday is in less than 2 weeks i wanna go mental on it haha

    What were you reclaiming: LOAN
    Who was the provider: EGG
How much did you get back: £792.77
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 EMAIL, 1 QUESTIONNAIRE, 1 LETTER
And then write your brief reclaim tale

OK, I took out a loan with EGG in 2002. It was only a small loan of £2000, and paid it off quite a while ago, didn't have any of the original paperwork, so didn't think I had a chance.

I still had access to my EGG accounts online, so logged on and asked for details of my loan account, so that I could make a claim.

They e-mailed back with my loan account number and advised that a questionnaire had been put in the post to me. The questionnaire was easy to complete, although they asked some rather detailed questions. I'm one of these people who can't remember what she said yesterday, let alone 10 years ago, so the answers I put were extremely vague to say the least. I was slowly losing hope!!! :undecided

They received the form back in mid May and was told that they had until the 28th of June to complete the investigation.

Low and behold, I get a letter through the post today offering me the settlement. In an ideal world I was hoping that if my complaint was upheld I would get £200 tops, so was over the moon to get nearly £600 more!! :j

I now watch these PPI claim adverts and laugh! Seriously, any PPI wannabe claimers out there, you do not need these people!!!

Thanks for your reply. I have actually been on the phone to a very helpful lady at Liverpool Victoria today, and solved the query.
Apparently this is a payment I made annually to a company called Credit Card Protection who have been investigated by the FSA recently.

I shall be trying to get some money back - right now, every penny counts, although given that their shares were suspended back in February, I'm guessing they no longer exist.

But this subject is now off-topic and not related to this particular thread, so it's best closed at this point :D
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2
