PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

This might sound daft but I actually don't know if I paid ppi on a number of credit cards and a loan I had from years ago. I have some of the statements still but I can't see that I either do, or don't pay it. I have completed questionnaires in any case and will send them off but they were cards I stupidly/naively took out when I was just 18 and am still paying back 12 years later! I would have had no clue what I was signing (I had a zillion store cards also) and would most likely have agreed to anything. Would it be obvious on a statement that I was paying for ppi? I can't find anything0

I have made a claim from Tesco and they have written to tell me that they would respond within 28 days. This has now passed and I have phoned them last week fot an update and they said there was backlog with claims and that they could not tell me when they would be able to respond should I write to the ombudsman now or what a little while longer.0

Just four weeks ago I made a complaint to First Plus re: mis-sold PPI. I made the complaint over the phone (not filled in one scrap of paperwork). Got home from work today to find a letter on the doorstep from First Plus, which said they where upholding my complaint as they are now not satisfied that the PPI policy was suitable for my needs, and that it was not adequately explained to you when you took out the policy (great joy!) the real shock came when I read page 2 of the letter with the actual offer. What we are offering you? In short without going onto all the breakdowns they offered me £13.850.75p Yippee!! when I first read it my knees buckled and I'm still shaking. To top it all it's our wedding anniversary today and we couldn't afford to go out. Still waiting to hear from Black Horse and RBS. will keep you posted. p.s not sure if I will sleep tonight?0

Moneyineptitude wrote: »Unfortunately, this only proves that PPI was held by you at some stage, not that you actually made any payments.
You state you send some statements, but exactly how many and how much do they show you having paid?
Again, you need to be able to prove that you made these payments.
I sent statements showing 11 payments during the period April 03 - December 04. It is this period that they are quoting as the offer period but they have not itemised exactly which months they are paying out for in their offer of £9.32 repayment of premiums (£6.42 offered on top for interest)
I also sent them a copy of the loan agreement showing the PPI inclusive payment was £33.77 per month (doesn't show the PPI exclusive figure). This figure is also quoted on the letter they sent my thanking me for my final payment and for paying in accordance with the agreement. I feel that this should demonstrate I paid the PPI inclusive rate at the start, during and end of the loan and they should pay out for the whole of the period.
My bank have said they should be able to confirm all of the payments made but I don't want to shell out more money getting proof of payments than my claim is worth and on the basis of the offered figures that equates to only £0.84 per month paid whereas I think i paid about £4.10 per month PPI, hence trying to confirm how much this actually is!
Thanks for your feedback0 -
Woo hoo a win from Ambrose Wilson, not huge but £320+, a moral victory since I tried at least 3 times over the phone over the years to cancel the PPI and they ignored my requests! Account is settled over a year ago so it's all MINE !0

Rang santander today to advise I am disputing their refusal to uphold my claim after they have admitted that I had PPI. Advised them I was going to take my claim to the FOS, they advised me it was not in their jurisdiction as was in 2001 and that I would be better writing to FLA?? I have written to both to be on the safe side. Any advice???? Is it worth doing this or am I wasting my time???
Thanks0 -
How do,
I have a few cases for my wife and I that have been with the FOS for 3-5 months now.
Has anyone got any idea of how long the FOS take with cases, I know with the backlog there are saying 3-6 + months and will keep us in the loop but just thought Id see what people have experienced.
Cases with the FOS are EGG, Marks and Spencer (HSBC) and Barclays.
If people have gone to the FOS , have they been successful after initial rejections?0 -
I initially sent my questionnaire to MBNA 25/01/2012
They replied 17/02/12 saying they would not uphold my complaint as I had not explained why I wished to claim! (It was all on my form!)
I wrote back enclosing the form again - highlighting the relevant points.
29/03/12 - received letter saying investigations taking longer than anticipated.
24/04/12 - rejection again.
26/04/12 - I sent to FOS.
4/06/12 - acknowledgement from FOS.
28/06/12 - FOS have informed me that MBNA will be contacting me with an offer to settle my complaint. :T They do have up to ten weeks though to respond.
No idea how much and to be honest for me its the principle because I remember having an argument early days about the ppi with a staff member and was told it was necessary to have it.
Special thanks to Amersall who encouraged me to keep fighting0 -
Sent off a completed form to the Halifax for MPPI we had on our mortgage in 1999 on May 16th.
Got a letter back on the 18th May to say they were investigating.
Got a letter on 29th June to say they were refunding us £1730 - about half was refunded payments the rest was interest at 8%.
It was very straightforward. Am tempted now to do the same for MPPI we had with the Nationwide from 2002 - 2005....anyone getting successes with Nationwide?0
