Just as I said they will "say anything that comes into their mouths" making you think this was with another department and making it sound like a rejection.
    :j Well done

Just got off the 'phone to NRAM and I'm still trying to calm down. Got a letter this morning telling me my claim had been successful but I hadn't replied to an earlier letter setting out the offer. Sat on the 'phone for 2 hours trying to get through. Without stopping to hear any of my details, the guy who finally answered told me 8000 of these letters have been sent out in error, the investigation was continuing and I'd be informed in due course. As it happens, it's now been more than 8 weeks, but just to put the tin lid on it, he told me it was going to be more like 16. No attempt to look at my case and find the details. When I suggested NRAM might consider letting everyone know that investigations are taking this long, "not our statutory obligation", which is nice. Anyone else with anything similar?

I got told by NRAM they initially mislaid my letter sent to them in April so they would start claim again and it would start from May 30th and could take 16 weeks to respond . Received a letter today with an offer I have accepted and sent back acceptance by recorded delivery will see how long it takes them to pay into my account letter states upto 28 days .

    Hi,
No there was simply a letter saying this was full and final payment and cheque.

I am not sure if they are trying to just send the cheque expecting me to take it then the matter to be closed.

Wait until you get the calculations, they will show what they have done.
Was this a loan or Credit card?.
  • I have had a fab result with Natwest CC - a 'goodwill gesture' to the tune of just over 8K. I didn't hold out much hope as it was a non advised sale made by postal application. Imagine my delight on receiving the letter. And even better was that less than a week passed between sending the acceptance and them making payment. Well done Natwest!!
Best of luck everyone and again, thanks to all the fab advice and posts on here :j

refund of loan premiums paid at the time plus (this is what i dont quite get and maybe someone can explain) and i quote "in addition, interest has been calculated for a further 28 days from the date of calculation at the statutory rate of 8% simple" - what does this mean, where's the 28 days coming in?
They are paying the 8% compensation for the 28 days from the date they refunded the PPI to the day they actually paid you.
The 8% is taxable if you are a taxpayer.
In my letter i asked for refund of premiums plus interest plus statutory compensation (is this what the 8% is?)
This 8% is compensation and they have given you the PPI back plus the interest on those payments.
    3k loan over 3 years
refund of loancare premium incl interest paid on premium - £248.40
28 days interest from date of calculation at stat rate 8% - £120.52
    total £368.92
Did you repay this loan early? to know if they have given you the correct PPI back you need to know what the initial PPI was on the loan.

wow, congratulations - that is some gesture of goodwill!

Just out of interest what were your reasons for the mis sell as reading through these threads the non advised sales are tricky

:j:jOffer letter through this morning... just under £7,000:T:T:T

    I'm over the moon:D:D:D

Their reason for upheld given, was that they were single premium PPI policies.

What is 35% plus Vat on that? I need to work out my bill :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
