A massive thank you for everybody on this forum and especially people reporting successes and offering advice - it feels good to be a part of such a supportive community. Have so far put in 3 ppi claims, one with Tesco bank for a loan and two with MBNA one for a loan and the other for a Virgin credit card. After waiting patiently for the post for a couple of weeks finally had a letter upheld from MBNA today - total amount £765.06 was slightly dissappointed to start with because when initially scanned letter thought I read 7 thousand pounds??!!
Breakdown of dates for people who are waiting:-
Beginning of May - sent completed claim template from this site.
31/05/12 - Received letter from MBNA saying they would investigate the complaint and let me know outcome within 28 days.
08/06/12 - Letter to say investigations were taking longer but would know by 6th July.
Letter in post today offering payment to include ppi premium, associated interest and applicable 8%.
    Fantastic??!!

    Hi,
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place? Never used a forum before!
I have today received a letter from Santander refusing my claim for mis-selling of PPI or as they call it, account cover.
They attach a copy of the debenhams account card application form quite clearly showing my signature in the account cover box. the assistant has crossed all the boxes I had to sign in. Could I have been misled? I seem to remember being told by the assistant that I would be more likely to be accepted for the card if I took out the insurance but as Santander say, there is no evidence that points towards this i.e my word against theirs!
My question to you is, shall i just give up and forget it or does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could proceed?
    Thanks

You have to write back to them and show that you could pay this card back should the worst have happened, show you had no need of this PPI.

I wrote to MBNA about a fortnight ago telling them I felt PPI on my old credit card was missold as I hadn't requested it when I applied for the card. They wrote back within a week saying they were looking into it. Got another letter yesterday saying claim upheld and a cheque would be in the post within 28 days. A total sum (including interest) of £1851.00!!!!! Well worth the price of a stamp.

    Thank you MSE
We had a loan in 2005 from black horse finance for £12,000, which we paid off in July 2006
We were going to sign up with one of those companies who claim it back for you, but i decided to check out your web site first and i am so glad i did. I found all my old paperwork, printed off the forms from your web site and sent them off on the 22/04/12 recorded delivery.
2 weeks later we received a letter from them saying our case is being dealt with, we then had a phone call to discuss the matter. We received a letter on the 29th June 2012 saying our claim had being upheld and on offer of £1678.00!!!!!!!!!!!. We checked the details and the amount and signed the acceptance letter.
To our delight we received a cheque yesterday 22/06/12
my advise to all is do it yourself the full amount of money is better in your pocket

:D Once again Thank you MSE :D

    Morning everyone

Received a letter from Halifax yesterday to say our ppi had been upheld and we are getting over £4,000 back from them. woop woop! So that's two cheques we are now waiting for, totalling £15,000. This money will make so much difference to our lives, thank you so much MSE and all the good advice.

I am soooooo pleased I did this myself and did not go through a company.

Following on from my ppi success yesterday I am going through files of old paperwork because I'm sure I had another loan with MBNA. I am now a little confused and would appreciate some advice. I have actually found the loan agreement form on the loan that I had a refund yesterday and that states that:-
    Cash advance £20000
    Total charge for credit £4652
    Insurance advance £3759.46
Total charge for credit for insurance loan £874.34
    Total amount you pay £29286.60
I must have been so naive or probably desperate at the time to accept these terms but now I'm older and a little bit wiser and am wondering why I have only been offered £765.06!!!
I was excited yesterday but a little deflated today - could anybody please advice.
    Thank you
