David is the managing director of Barclaycard, keep sending emails to Diamond, someone will get p***ed off eventually :rotfl:

    Hi amersall

Didn't get a reply to my e-mail but got a final response letter today complaint not up held, as it was an internet application they state the egg on line application process

" did not require you to take ppi as a condition of obtaining the credit card"
" did not provide an advisory service"
" required you to positively confirm you wished to purchase this policy during the on line application"
" provided full terms and conditions of the policy during the on line application"
" provided full terms and conditions of the policy and requested you to read them before submitting"

With your extensive knowledge on this subject would you think this is worth pursuing through the FOS based on the following

I had 6 month full and 6 month half pay along with a pension, life insurance and death benefits through my employment which would have made the payments and render any claim I had invalid should I have made one, but was not aware of this until recently

    And the FOS guidline

“So whilst it is important that the customer has access to the full policy documentation, it is not enough for the firm to say it met its obligations simply by sending the customer the policy document and highlighting the customer’s right to cancel the policy”.

Do the rules vary for on-line applications or does this cover it

I have no recollection of asking for the PPI and i do not remember anything on the internet asking for employment details and the ability to cover payments.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
  • Hi

I would like to add my success and of course my thanks to all those who helped.
I received an offer of £1700 for a loan £6000 that I paid back early in 2002.

    Thank you all

    Hi everyone,
This is not about PPI but I just thought I'd share my news as it may help someone else if they find themselves in a similar situation.

I had a Barclaycard that I owed £5050. I found myself in a postition to settle the account. I rang BC and asked them for a settlement figure. The man said £2001.89. I asked him to confirm this a number of times which he did. I agreed sharply however when I began the process of making a payment he said there had been an error and it was £3850. I stuck to my guns and after various phone calls they agreed the amount of £2001.89. I saved a staggering £3048.11 which I think is approx 39% of the original debt.

    One very Happy Tamsterhamster:money:
Sorry.....please can you clarify? They let you settle on LESS THAN HALF the debt? Were you in arrears/had a voluntary arrangement in place? Would that show up on your credit history or anything?
This could be very useful...!!! Sorry for all the questions!:A
