    Yay!!!!!!:j
Thanks so much money, you have kept me going and I think you are fab:D:D:D:cool:
  • Just got off the 'phone to NRAM and I'm still trying to calm down. Got a letter this morning telling me my claim had been successful but I hadn't replied to an earlier letter setting out the offer. Sat on the 'phone for 2 hours trying to get through. Without stopping to hear any of my details, the guy who finally answered told me 8000 of these letters have been sent out in error, the investigation was continuing and I'd be informed in due course. As it happens, it's now been more than 8 weeks, but just to put the tin lid on it, he told me it was going to be more like 16. No attempt to look at my case and find the details. When I suggested NRAM might consider letting everyone know that investigations are taking this long, "not our statutory obligation", which is nice. Anyone else with anything similar?
  • Hi everyone,
This is not about PPI but I just thought I'd share my news as it may help someone else if they find themselves in a similar situation.

I had a Barclaycard that I owed £5050. I found myself in a postition to settle the account. I rang BC and asked them for a settlement figure. The man said £2001.89. I asked him to confirm this a number of times which he did. I agreed sharply however when I began the process of making a payment he said there had been an error and it was £3850. I stuck to my guns and after various phone calls they agreed the amount of £2001.89. I saved a staggering £3048.11 which I think is approx 39% of the original debt.

    One very Happy Tamsterhamster:money:

over 12 months ago we put a claim in via a claims company(was that a bad idea!) to Welcome Finance, this went to the FO and we were given a payout of just over 7K, of this the claims company took nearly 2.5K (told you it was a bad idea) ALSO (and didnt realise we had done this, but they has paperwork!!) a referal company took just over 1K... so we ended up with a little over 3K.. a huge amount of money to us but not as much as we had been awarded... (live and learn eh)

learning from this mistake I made a call to HSBC with regard to loans we had taken with them well over 7 years ago, didnt have any paper work, not reference number or amouts nothing...
the lovely chap I spoke to gave me an address and told me to just write in asking for the PPI back...

they wrote back saying that they would look into it and get back to me....

today they have.... offering us £6005.78p. non of this is going to a claims company or referal agency..

all from one phone call and one letter with a 1st class stamp (not even recorded)

had I know JUST how easy it was the claims company wouldnt have got a penny..

happy days and a new kitchen on the way :)

Can I ask which address you sent it too, as my mum has had no reply to her letter - she had no account number either.

    Thank you

Many congratulations, hope it's a big win! You've been a big help to me and to many other people, good to see your personal success!!!!
  • I have claims against banks like Egg.com and marbles who have changed hands. They claim they don't have the paperwork. I assume they are trying to kick this into the long grass. How have other people managed to get past these hurdles?

  • did a SAR some weeks ago and sent cheque for £10 we received today a list of items on our account since 1990 and we find that there were 2 loans in the 90s,cheque returned what a surprise.
so on the phone we go lloyds and guess what i got manilla 3 times sorry not talking to them about a pre 2001 loan however i asked very nicely if i could be transferred to someone in the UK the first flatly refused no way but the 3rd kindly put us through no probs so do not be fobbed off on that one.
the claims have gone in so we wait 8 weeks but then we are finished.all claims will be over after 11 months but by god we are better off .
thanks to all on here .
do it yourself do not use claims company
