    Hi

I have been reading this site with great interest for the past few months & have finally been inspired to do something about FP PPI.

I took a loan out with them in Sep 2002 for £51,000 with PPI of £10,164. I cslled their PPI helpline & was told that I had settled the loan in Jan 2004 but the settelment figure was £63,327.46. The guy I spoke to told me that because I had steeled early I had paid off all of the PPI, he mentioned nothing about a rebate & the settlement figure was very high given that I had paid about £400 a month 16 months & only borrowed £51,000 .

I then said that I'd like to raise a complaint as I was told that i couldn't get the loan without the PPI & that I had a very genourous sickness package, I tried to give the guy a lot of detail however he wasn't interested in the detail & said that not wanting or needing the PPI was reason enough! I completed the complaint over the phone but also sent the PPI questionairre in which I gave full details of complaint. The guy said that they were clearing complaints quite quickly & I would get a reply in about 4 weeks. I asked if I had gone via a broker & her said yes, it was Smart quotes ltd (he couldn'y tell me if the company still existed?). I asked how this woulkd effect my complaint & he said the acknowledegement letter would detail that. This morning I received the acknowledgement letter but it mentioned nothing of broker, is this a good sign?

Also, if the complaint were upheld would someone give me a ball park figure of what I'm likely to receive.

    Many thanks in advance

Please don't spam the forum with the same message in different threads.

The acknowledgement letter is just that, it simply means that the Bank have received your complaint.

If your complaint is upheld, you will receive back all the PPI payments you made (minus any rebate for early closure) plus 8% simple interest.

Thanks for your 'help' Mr forum police. Had you of bothered reading my post rather than spouting about spam you would have seen that I was asking if it were a good sign that the broker wasn't mentioned on the letter.

Anyway I have an actual life so I'll leave you to lord it up over all & sundry

I've just recently looked back through all my loans, finance etc over the last ten years and have written several letters to the loan companies following the templates on here.

However, almost all of the loans/finance I don't have a copy of the agreement but, from old Experian checks, I do know when the loans started and ended - this information I've put on the letter to the lender.

This morning I received two letters back (one from Black Horse and one from Ford Credit) saying similar things that "Whilst we have made every effort to locate your agreement, unfortunately we are unable to do so" - which sounds like an easy brush-off to me.

What is the right approach next in order to progress further ?

    Any advice/guidance greatly appreciated.

You need to do a Sar request as the Loans are closed and the banks have archived the data, you may get some info but this depends if they still have it.
On the Credit File there should be the last 4 digits of the account number, if there is then use these on the Sar request, give as much info as you can and use the last 4 digits of the accounts, these will cost £10 per bank, ask for all info they hold on you and give them 40 days to respond.

Hi no we have nothing at all just one old statement with an amount on. Having not ticked the box on the online submission I just cant see we would have agreed to anything over the phone. when activating the card.

When you write back to them rejecting the reason for them not upholding, put that you did not want this PPI initially and something must have been said to you at the point of the sale that made you take the PPI when you did not want this, ask them to show that you agreed to the PPI on the phone after not ticking the box on the application.

My IVA was paid/ended October 2011 I am currently claiming ppi I have received one payment of over £1700 from one creditor all they required was copy of my certificate of compliance.
I have another claim for witch I have been offered £268 they are saying that they will contact my supervisor and and pay directly to them But (iva is over).
They also say why was ppi not mentioned at the proposal stage and included as asset and want to offset and use lots language that don't understand so I am a little worried sounds like I might loose more money than I receive.
If I send them a copy of my certificate of compliance. Can they take any further action?
    i was told that my
compliance would show on credit history

You will get the whole PPI amount back, as you settled this early, they will have given you a rebate of the PPI, the remaining PPI was paid back to them by you in the settlement figure.
When you win redress they take the rebate back and you get the whole PPI amount back with the interest and 8%.
Looks like a tidy amount to come back :T:T:T

    Thanks Amersall.

Got a letter today from the bank today which just said sorry you have had to contact us about the sale of your PPI..Etc etc etc

We will reply to your complaint no later than the end of July etc etc

The thing is I haven't sent or been asked to send in a claim form.
I only thing I did, (as my previous post), questioned them via a telephone conversation if I had had Single premium insurance on the loan which they confirmed I had. does it look as thou they have enough info to go on to process my claim? last but not least in your opinion does it look favorable given they haven't bothered to ask me to fill in any claim form?
    Many thanks
