My advice to anyone reading the site wondering whether or not to claim DO IT! Please dont use a claim company it really is so easy to do and there is a wealth of knowledge and help on here , all in all Ive made 3 successful claims including my sisters and all I did was asked for advise from the gang on here and used the template letters on here :jEveryone needs a little help sometimes :T
Successess So Far Thanks To This Wonderful Site
First Plus PPI Claim £9847.98
Halifax CC PPI £3117.58 :money:0 -
Hi All,
My first post to say a massive Thankyou to everyone on this forum for all your help, I thought I'd left it too late to try and claim my ppi back for my old Halifax loans but decided to give it a go, less than 6 weeks later I receive a letter offering me just over £2000! So happy! :j
I've still got my Halifax cc complaint outstanding although not sure about this one as from what I remember (it was a long time ago!!), I was offered the card in branch one day shortly after my 18th birthday, I don't ever remember being told about PPI or signing anything it was all done on the computer, would this be a valid reason? I cancelled it some years later after realising I didn't need it although it was made really difficult to do this. Just wondering if anyone has had success?0 -
Have had a letter off egg rejecting my claim for mis-sold PPI. I applied online in 2004. Does anyone know if you had to opt in or opt out of PPI at this time?12/04/2019

Hello all,
After all the advice given I put a claim in against Capital One.
Made the complaints that I was mis sold as per usual complaints, PPi was not explained, alternative products, existing cover, etc......
Just had a letter back from them telling me I have not been mis sold PPI.
Basis being as follows,
They are telling me that when I completed the telephone application I was made fully aware of all the costs (73p in every £100).
I know I wasn't told this,
PPI was purchased on a non advised basis, etc.....
Alternative products, they are telling me that it was my responsibility to confirm that the policy was suitable for my needs, after their advisers (highly trained) gave me an overview and there was no requirement to discuss alternative products on the open market.
Pre existing medical conditions, again I think it the usual excuse about Capital One not needing to know of any medical conditions.
I think this is the usual rejection letter.
Is it worth while following this up? Do I still have a case against them?Should I contact them or go the FSO?
Any advice most grateful!
Thanks

You could challenge Egg on this basis, but there is no way for us to know whether this was definitely the case with your specific application.0 -
thanks to this site, i have cut out the middle man & gone direct to the bank - HSBC - to complain about the PPI. Had a nice letter through yesterday to say that they will be compensating me nearly £4000!!!0

If you did this in branch, it will depend on what you were told regarding the PPI, if they reject, then write back and let them know that you tried to cancel this when you realised you did not have a need for it.0 -
