PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi all, just thought I'd share news of my success. I took out a loan in Dec 2004 and told I had to take PPI. I settled early, in 2006, and questioned why the figure seemed so high but was kind of fobbed off with it being 'something to do with the insurance'.
Of course I now realise that the PPI was a large part of those early payments.
I'm over the moon to get this money back - £2300!! and it was all so easy.... just sent off the form and heard nothing until 6 weeks later and the great news. I have a couple of other credit card claims on the go so fingers crossed, but I'm happy enough now. Getting the money will be great but I do feel a sense of justice - I knew I was pushed into the PPI and I knew that I had paid over the odds when settling the loan.
Thank you to all the fab posts here and the invaluable advice, truly it is amazing... you are all amazing
Good luck everyone x0 -
Was looking for some advice I got an offer from Halifax yesterday but unsure if it is correct. I opened the card around 2006 but got into some financial difficulties about end of 2011. I was offered the below
Refund of premiums:242.44
Refund of interest applied to the account because of the ppi:218.33
Interest at 8% calculated until 20 June 2012. 11:13
So a total of £471.90
I am not sure this is correct as I had the card for a number of years before going into financial difficulties and I have paid more than this in PPI over the years.
Should I contact Halifax and ask them for copies of all my credit card statements from when I opened my credit card.0 -
Would anyone be able to provide me with the email address for the CEO of Nationwide?
I have had my reclaim for front loaded ppi turned down and I have written to voice my disapproval of this but would also like to copy the CEO in on everything as in the letter I rec'd was an interesting quote:
' The policy was provided on a non-advised basis therefore Nationwide was not required to ascertain your circumstances with regard to health, existing insurance,e,pliyer benefits, savings or alternative means of repaying the loan nor was the Society required to assess the suitability of the policy for you'.
At no time did I request ppi, it was not explained that it was optional (Nationwide had filled it in on paperwork and I assumed it was a condition of the loan) and now, by their own admission, they say they did not assess my circumstances.
Surely this is mis selling?Loan Free May 2015 - working on Dec 2012

Just sent a letter I quickly knocked up to LloydsTSB back in April, offering £5 for every claim for admin etc... I had no loan details, just sent my bank account as a reference....Returned from a 2 week holiday on Saturday to the usual mountain of post, contained in one was an offer from Lloyds TSB dealing with 9 previous loans and an offer of nearly £20,000....why pay one of these companies when it REALLY is that simple.0

Thanks Amersall
I had great success with MBNA credit card and loan
and also RBS credit card,,its just these old loans with
Barclays that are proving difficult.
One loan was taken out in 1996 through until
2006,,I kept topping it up hence it lasting for
10 years,,Got fed up of waiting for Barclays after my
first complaint was back August 2011,,so for my own
sanity I handed it over to the FSO,,its been with them
for around 5 months..
Great work your doing here ;-)
Cheers mark...
Can I ask how long it took for your rbs from start to finish? I am on week 5 at the moment.
Thank you0 -
I would like to warn all people thinking of making a PPI claim to first contact the lender yourself rather than go through a claim handling company, I did this with my PPI claim I used Money Boomerang which was a mistake and I would advise people not to use this company.
As I ended up doing most of the work myself and still received a bill of over £3000.
Please be very careful

Please can you advise me? I have been offered a “good will payment” from RBS for PPI on a Mint Credit Card but they want to take the amount off the outstanding balance on the credit card and not send me a cheque for the amount.
Do I have to accept this or am I entitled to the cash?
I am not in arrears with the credit card and as I didn’t ask for the policy I didn’t sign to say I agreed to terms and conditions of refunds so If I would like my cash am I not entitled to Cash???0 -
I too had a rejection letter from Nationwide the other day, and i was disgusted by their response. They spent alot of time and effort in their response going in to how suitable the policy was for my husband and how he could have claimed on it should he wished, however our argument was nothing to do with the suitability of the PPI, we knew he was suitable, our argument was we never asked for it in the first place, and the letter we received at the time was extremely misleading in making us think we had to take the PPI.... our reasons were not even addressed in their response. Hence we have now sent them a rather strongly worded letter in return! I doubt they will change their mind but we will see!
I take heart in the fact that this seems to be a standard Nationwide response - hopefully some kind soul out there will take pity and post the Nationwide CEO details and we can both take our complaints there!
