    Hi guys and girls :-)
Could anyone let me know if they have had any luck going
    through the Financial Ombudsman?????
I have had several successful PPI claims from credit cards
But two old loans from Barclays/woolwich proved a real battle
they date back to 1992,and 2006,I was self employed at the time etc
After not getting a final response from barclays after 4 months of trying,I sent the Financial ombudsman all my details,,I do have some
of the old paper work also.
They have had all this since JAN and said it could take up to 1 year?
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD A QUICKER RESPONSE,WILL I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 6 MONTHS????

    THANKS FOR ANY COMMENTS .:-)

just reading through the last few pages here and was wondering if you could help me - im thick - nothing sinks in,lol.

im currently around 5 weeks into the process with both egg on an old loan and barclays...its the egg i have a query about.

i was wondering if you could confirm that it was the single thingy ppi i had? i think it may have been.
i had the loan, with ppi and was paying 232 a month...i found old paperwork taking this off at the time i told them i was paying it off reducing to 192 a month so 40 a month ppi.

now i only paid this loan for 6/7 months before reconsolidating with a different one and company that i didnt have to have ppi with.

now when i paid it off i know i recieved something to do with the ppi so presumed all i was looking at getting back was a few hundred quid really.

however reading through...i think.....it just might be the single premium ppi and therefore couls perhaps be expecting more back?
    is this right??
sorry i expect you all get fed up answering the same things but im really confuddled on all this!!

When you settled this Loan with the new one, they will have given you a rebate of the PPI total amount, the remaining PPI you will have paid this in the settlement figure, as you only paid 7 months of this PPI, the rebate may have been a decent amount as you get more of a rebate the sooner into the term that you paid this off.

If you win redress with this Loan, you will get the whole PPI amount back less the rebate they gave you.

Sadly it could be longer than 6 months, hindsight is a good thing I know, you should have stuck with Barclays with this, the Single premium is the reason for mis sell with this Loan, Give Barclays a ring and ask what is happening with this claim and give the Single Premium as an added reason to the claim, they may not deal with you as the claim has gone to FOS but you can try.

SP PPI is a Loan on the Loan that you paid back to term end with interest, if you settled this Loan early you would have received a rebate of the PPI but you would have repaid the remaining PPI back in the Settlement figure, the same applies if you had cancelled the PPI, this is why this is the most upheld of all PPI mis sell claims.

    Thanks Amersall
I had great success with MBNA credit card and loan
and also RBS credit card,,its just these old loans with
    Barclays that are proving difficult.
One loan was taken out in 1996 through until
2006,,I kept topping it up hence it lasting for
10 years,,Got fed up of waiting for Barclays after my
first complaint was back August 2011,,so for my own
sanity I handed it over to the FSO,,its been with them
    for around 5 months..
Great work your doing here ;-)

    Cheers mark...
  • Back in 2002 I'd arranged a 12 month O% money transfer with Virgin. PPI was added automatically (without telling me) but it took me a couple of months to realise this. I phoned the company and they cancelled the PPI payments. After 1 year the loan was paid of in full and I thought no more about it.

However, being a massive Martin Lewis fan, I recently decided to follow up the 4months PPI payments I had made, so I made a phone call to the credit card company. The only thing I could tell them was my name and address. I had no statements, no account number and only a rough date...

My claim was upheld and I received a cheque for £1050.00 3 weeks later!
So very many thanks to MSE for giving me the confidence to approach Virgin. :T

PS (After consulting Martin as to which was the best buy of course) I bought this new laptop with the refund.

You are welcome, pleased to help :D
Get the Single Premium in for these, it is the most upheld reason for PPI claims.
Good luck and let me know how you get on.
