We had lloyds contact us with a cheque (£18) for having paid them slightly too much on a PPI about 5 years ago.
We had forgotten all about it but remembered having been told we needed it ,which wasn't true as a family member would have helped if we had been unable to pay .
Anyway OH put in a claim for missold PPI and we were refunded £1500
which was what we had paid them plus interest.

What I find a bit out of order with ppi if you run into trouble by stupidly max out your cc and interest bites and cannot pay the minimum to keep the hounds aT bay the ppi stops and you never get it in writing or told that it stops .if you go on repayments what happen if you lose your job or fall Ill the ppi that you paid till then means nothing .

Well, it's not an insurance against default of course. I do agree the Lender should tell you that cover has stopped, though.

why is there is such a big difference between the amount of interest i.e £9,639.00 it says i will have paid on the original paperwork, and the actual amount of interest that they say i have paid to date, i.e £2,994 bearing in mind the policy ends in two months.

It looks to me like the £9,639.00 was overall interest on the loan & PPI, where as the £2,994.00 is the interest you have paid to date on just the PPI section?
That's exactly right, it was a "front-loaded" policy.

Its completly unbelieveable, all my geniune complained (Barclays Loan, Barclaycard Visa and Barclaycard Master ) were not upheld and i applied in first week of March 2012. Mostly reasons were:

    1. It was not mentioned by Sales Advisor that it is optional.
    2. Was pressurised by sales advisor to take out policy without explaining terms and conditions or exclusions.

They usually took 10 weeks to send final respons and told to that you can forward to FOS if you want.

Its completly rudioculous they just complete the 8 + weeks time and send refused letters without taking serious.

Should i write them again to reconsider and guess they are not taking serious complains, or should i forward to FOS.

What were the reasons they did not uphold, and was the loan PPI made in with the loan repayment each month, or as a payment on it's own?.

Only write to them again if you have new evidence to support your claim.
    Here's your next move.

Do be aware that your complaints are verbal accusations which are difficult to prove and easy to reject.
Do also check, as Amersall mentioned above, that your loan and PPI repayments weren't combined so that you paid interest on both. This is the most upheld complaint.

    Hi,
Looking for some advice if poss please. O/H made a complaint with Egg credit card re: ppi stating that it had been mis sold to him, he wasnt given the correct info, it wasn't sold in his bext interests and wasnt explained to him. When the policy was taken out, he was clearly in a position that his employment was able to cover repayments - 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay sickness policy so no need for the ppi policy in the first place.
He couldnt remember though how he had obtained the credit card.
We have had a reply this morning rejecting his claim.
Egg say he purchased the ppi through their website in 2002. Consequently their reasons to reject are:
    1) the online process doesnt require ppi to be taken out to get the credit card
    2) the online process required him to positivly confirm that he wished to purchase the policy
    3) the full terms and conditions were provided and there was a request that he read them before submitting his credit card app.

Has he got any chance of trying with the FOS ?
Any help and feedback will be very welcome.
    Thanks for reading.

I have mentioned about reasons that advisor did not mention that it was optional or not. 2. was forced to take the ppi policy. 3. terms and condition or exclutions were not explained properly.

and I have not sure about loan repayment each month but i have copy of loan agreement and i sent them already, which says The loan is in two parts with premium loan being the single premium payment to purchase barclayloan protection.
    monthly repayment : 224.10 + 47.38 = 271.48

It does say on the agreement "the interest will be £9,639.00, The total price you will pay for cover is £17,139.00"
so it makes it sound like this is just for the PPI,

    I'm confused!

No body has proof regarding mis-sold ppi, even bank has not given any proof regarding my complains.
they have just written same letters and replying that we have no evidence found that you were mis sold.
Ok if they have not found any evidence, then they should provide the evidence that i was not mis-sold. (like voice recording).
