I've been looking into reclaiming my PPI and today emailed Littlewoods Cat for the account details which i used to hold with them early 2000, i paid off the account and closed it. What im wanting to know the reply they sent back to me states i did have a PPI ( which i wasn't aware of) and i'm just wondering is there nothing else i can do to reclaim this as they seem to state i can't. As i don't really know about this subject i'm hoping someone might be able to give me some help as i'm very confused !! I've posted below the reply i received from Littlewoods Thanks ;-):rotfl:
Thank you for your email.
I have taken a look at your old account and found that a PPI variant named Extra Care 500 was active on the account between the dates 12/09/2001- 02/07/2002.
Extra Care 500 is an optional insurance that could help cover your catalogue payments if the Account Holder or a partner (if eligible) is made unemployed (aged between 18 to 65), signed off sick from work (aged between 18 to 65), is hospitalised (no age limits), is diagnosed with a critical illness (aged between 65 to 74) and it may also cover Life (between the ages of 18 to 75). This insurance may also cover most goods purchased on your account against loss, theft or accidental damage up to two years from the date of purchase.
The premiums are calculated at 1.46% of any outstanding balance (this will include items ordered then returned or goods purchased under our 'buy now pay later' terms).
As previously stated, this Insurance is optional and as requested your insurance has now been cancelled. Any cover provided by this product will cease with effect from 2nd July 2002. As the request to cancel has been received outside of the cooling off period, no refund of the premium charged will be made.0 -
PPI claim form from Northern Rock Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but couldnt see where else to post it.
Today i received a letter from NRock telling me i could claim against my PPI, and they sent me a form to fill in for me to highlight the reason of my claim.
1. I was not aware that the insurance policy was optional and i did not have to include it to obtain the loan.
2. I was not aware that the total cost of the PPI policy was added to my loan and interest was charged throughout the term
3. I was not made aware that I would not receive a proportionate refund of the cost of the PPI policy if i cancelled it before the end of the loan term.
4. I was not made aware of all significant exclusions, affecting my personal circumstances that could lead to a claim being declined
5. Any existing PPi policies or other means i had of making the monthly loan payments were not taken into account.
6. I was not asked sufficient details about my personal circumstances to allow the advisor to provide appropriate advice.
7. I was unduly pressured to include PPI during the sales process.
8. I was not aware that i was being sold a PPI policy with the loan.
Which one do you think i should tick to make a successful claim. I was in such a state when i took out the loan that to be honest i cant remember much about it.
Many thanks in advancefind a deal....pass it on :beer:0 -
Hi
This is my first post and wonder if anyone can offer advise. I have three claims in for PPI. Barclaycard, MBNA and Santander (Debenhams Store Card). All discovered having read information on this site. The orginial letters were sent in April 2012. Still waiting for final decisions from MBNA and Santander.
Today received letter from Barclaycard stating they were unable to uphold my complaint for reasons that they have found no evidence of a mis sale. The original card was a Goldfish card which was taken over by Barclaycard. I noticed on the back of the statement an AXA payment protection premium.
I have been self employed since 1996 and have always made a point of not taking out PPi as it never offered relevant cover. I never had a conversation with anyone about PPI, it was never authorised, I have never received any policies of cover, I have seperate insurances for this sort of thing. Barclaycard acknowledge all these points but that they find "no evidence to suggest that this discussion did not take place" or that the they can find no reason to suggest that optionaality was not discussed with me or that they have not identified sufficient evidence to support my complaint that I did not request it or or receive policy cover. !!!!!
Barclaycard state that they will not enter into further correspondence on this matter but will co-operate fully with the FOS.
I am completely amazed. I am going to take it to the FOS but if they state they can find no evidence to support my claim, what evidence have they got? If the discussions had taken place (which they did not) they would not have sold it to me due to my circumstances... . They have given me no more information or evidence that they are right.. Is this just? Can I ask them to supply their evidence even though they state they will not correspond with me further?
Anyone help or offer advise, feel very deflated and conned...
Many thanks
I'm self-employed and I ticked (doh!) the PPI box on my MBNA credit card application and I've had a refund because I ticked the self-employed box and the cover was not suitable - I've had success with my Barclays overdraft as well so far for the same reason.
I was rejected by MBNA first and I sent them proof I was self-employed and told them to look at the self-employed ticked on the form.
Have they sent you the application form back and have you ticked self-employed at the time?0 -
Hi,
Can anyone please answer this for me as Im getting myself all confused.
Lloyds repaid my ppi on several loans that were consolidated into bigger ones. I am currently still repaying the latest one which didnt have ppi on but repaid the others whicg did if you see what I mean.
My question is, arent they supposed to restructure the loan so my payments change? Or is that only if they refund ppi to the loan account? They sent me cheques for the ppi refunds.
Thanks0 -
I was under the impression they restructure repayments on existing loans if you had PPI on the existing loan, and claimed on that.
As you don't have PPI on the existing loan, no restructuring is needed.0 -
:jQUOTE=mommame;53058123]I am still in shock today as I made 1 visit to my local bank and asked for a list of all my loans, cards etc I have had with them including my mortgage which had mortgagesure attached.
That was early march so I then rang the PPI line and gave all the account numbers and explained my husband was self employed and we were always led to believe that he was covered etc.
We had confirmation to say they had 28 days etc to respond and yesterday it was like winning the lottery as we had a total of £7094.54 coming back to us and this morning another one regarding our mortgagesure for £5357.95 less £1205.46 which was my claim sometime in the 90s when I was ill.
They said I will be either paid straight to my account and others say in the form of a cheque all to be done within 28 days.
I am so happy as this has been the toughest year ever regards money health etc and we really needed a break.
I know the 28 days will be longer but I dont care as long as we get it.
I dont have to do anything unless I dispute anything.
Thanks to Martin and all you guys,I'm over the moon.[/QUOTE]
My account is £1241.00 heavier today as lloyds tsb has repaid some of my claims.
Did not expect to get it so quickly as everyone else are waiting a long time.
keep going folks dont give up. x0 -

Hi there
If you did not ask for it and did not want this insurance, I believe you can make a reclaim complaint with the reasons you have.
Tell them they were wrong to sell the insurance automatically and you wish them to refund this back to you.
Keep at them, good luck.;)
Thank you for replying, how would i go about doing this, do i return an email to them of write to them? When i had the catalogue with Littlewoods i was on benefits so wouldnt have asked for the insurance as it wouldn't have been needed!0
