We wrote to Firstplus regarding a mis sold PPI and got £40,000 back.

Hi there, we have just received similar news, so well chuffed! Can you tell me how long it was before you received the cheque from First Plus?

    Many thanks

I've had my second complaint upheld!

    Barclays overdraft protection.

I'm getting £4173.60 payments returned, plus £1880.20 8% simple interest, making a total of £6053.80!

Absolutely chuffed beyond bits. I'm so glad I looked at this forum because I wouldn't have bothered without all the encouraging posts.

That's £17,400 back so far and I'm still waiting on Barclayloan, Barclaycard, Capital One and Lombard.

My first post on this fine forum.

Octonut can I ask, what reason did you have for claiming your o/d protection? I also have an overdraft with Barclays and I've just sent off the questionnaire to reclaim the PPI on it over seven years, because going back through old statements I discovered I had the original statement of demands and needs, and it clearly says in black and white, "you have disagreed with our recommendation and you do not want payment protection"!!! So surely this is a clear cut case of mis-selling, or will they try and wriggle out of it by saying I should have cancelled it if I didn't want it?

I complained because I was self-employed throughout the whole period, even though I agreed to have it. If you didn't agree with it surely they were wrong to take it out of your account? Good luck.
  • Hi All
been banging on about not using Claims Company's in a number of posts, would like to share my experience.

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Before I came across this site I used a Claims Company to investigate one of my biggest accounts (Natwest), which I very much now regret after finding out how easy it is to do it myself,
with all the helpful advice from this site.:money:

I filled in forms and sent them to the Claims Company, they then sent them on to Natwest, THATS IT and so far I have had to pay them £336.00, with another 2 loans outstanding.
I have today written to Natwest today informing them that I have not asked the Claims Company to investigate my Natwest Credit card and any contact from the Claims Company is without my permission. I hope the bank will uphold my request.

But in the Claims Company letter has said:

We can confirm receipt of your documents and have reviewed the information provided. The claim(s) listed below (which there was just one, I had to sign for each loan and one letter was produced for each claim) have had a letter of complaint sent out to the Bank(s). Please note in accordance with the Financial Services Authority(FSA)DISP 3.2.7 we have requested that the following Bank(s) investigate all mis-sold PPI that you may hold with them. Therefore we will contact you with any additional claims you may have with the Bank(s) that we will look into for you.

    Is this legal do this?

I have only signed for three claims with the account numbers attached, I don't think they can just do any claim without my permission or signature?
Just wondering if anyone has had any similar experience with Claims company's or knows who do I contact for some advice.

Well done to all for successful claims:beer:

I was also self employed so that was the other reason I put. I could certainly do with the money back if I get it - but couldn't we all!

I think the coop are trying to fob me off. I am sure I have been paying over £40 for well over a year when i did not need to. Today I get a letter stating yes they feel something went wrong and as a gesture of goodwill they will send me a cheque for £161. I am sure this is wrong and I am wondering if anyone else has had the same situation with them.

  • This is just to say a great big thank you to all at the money saving expert site for making it all so simple to reclaim my son and daughter in laws ppi getting them a much needed £3500 last year, and I have just compleated my own reclaim of £8500. This was done in 5 weeks from the start of my claim to the money being put in my bank. I have now got three friends at work on the ppi reclaims trail. Before they could not be bothered as they thought it was to dificult or they would lose a big chunk of the money to a reclaim company. Cheers to all on your team.

i've been looking into reclaiming my PPI and today emailed Littlewoods Cat for the account details which i used to hold with them early 2000, i paid off the account and closed it. What im wanting to know the reply they sent back to me states i did have a PPI ( which i wasn't aware of) and i'm just wondering is there nothing else i can do to reclaim this as they seem to state i can't. As i don't really know about this subject i'm hoping someone might !! Thanks ;-):rotfl:

    Thank you for your email.

I have taken a look at your old account and found that a PPI variant named Extra Care 500 was active on the account between the dates 12/09/2001- 02/07/2002.

Extra Care 500 is an optional insurance that could help cover your catalogue payments if the Account Holder or a partner (if eligible) is made unemployed (aged between 18 to 65), signed off sick from work (aged between 18 to 65), is hospitalised (no age limits), is diagnosed with a critical illness (aged between 65 to 74) and it may also cover Life (between the ages of 18 to 75). This insurance may also cover most goods purchased on your account against loss, theft or accidental damage up to two years from the date of purchase.

The premiums are calculated at 1.46% of any outstanding balance (this will include items ordered then returned or goods purchased under our 'buy now pay later' terms).
As previously stated, this Insurance is optional and as requested your insurance has now been cancelled. Any cover provided by this product will cease with effect from 2nd July 2002. As the request to cancel has been received outside of the cooling off period, no refund of the premium charged will be made.

If we can be of any further assistance or you have any further comments or queries please do not hesitate to contact us. The direct line telephone number for Insurance enquiries, claims and cancellations is: 0844 811 1220.

Posted the other day in the discussion thread about hearing my complaints had been upheld, but thought I'd add a quick message here just to say I've now received payment:j:j:beer:

Myself (chain of 5 Loans), my partner (1 Loan) and my father (1 Loan) all put in our complaints at the same time (02.04.12), all had Single Premium PPI added. I rang the call centre on Tuesday to check on progress, to be told all complaints had been upheld. I then prompted my partner and Dad to do the same, and it was equally as good news for them too:T:T:T:T

They said letters were on their way detailing the offers, but are yet to be received. However, funds have been deposited direct into all our accounts today, just 2 days later:D

It's taken exactly 6 weeks and 3 days from start to finish. One phone call is all it took, so please don't use CMC's if you can avoid it!!!!!

Just over £10,600 has been refunded to my family so far, and we're still waiting on a few more decisions. Over the moon as you can imagine!

Keeping everything crossed for everyone waiting, and sending huge THANKS once again to amersall, moneyineptitude and all others who give out sound advice on the forums, aswell as Martin:money: & all at MSE for their amazing site.
