I have managed to pay off most of them was just left with the car loan which i took out through Northern Rock.
I was on a debt management plan and it was only when they brought it to may attention i became aware that i had PPI on this loan. I looked at this website, got the forms to complain and sent them off.
I got a string of "thanks for your complaint letters" and thought this is going nowhere. Then this morning I got a letter from Northern Rock.
They are removing the PPI part of the loan which reduces the loan from £5,825.57 to £2,096.03. They are refunding the PPI i have paid, which is £2325.09. They are also refunding the interest at £1,496.80. This means that there is enough refund to completely clear the debt and there is £1700 to be refunded to me.
On top of all that this means that i am now completelt debt free.:T
That's fantastic news for you :T:T:TLBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015
Debt Free Date: 14/11/2012 :j:j:j0 -
What else can I say, other than a massive thank you to MSE! Friends directed me to the website and from reading all about PPI, I followed the advice and sent off the relevant form:
For the cost of 4 first class stamps.......
Lloyds TSB are due to send me a cheque for a staggering £17,200! I still can't believe how much I (stupidly) paid in PPI payments over the years for the loans that I had with them.
Egg - £7,280 (loans)
Halifax - £240 (credit card)
RBS - £1,980 (credit card)
Settlements were either received or promised within 8 weeks of my initial complaint.
I'm still in shock! If you've not already done so, follow the advice and send off your claim if you think you've been mis-sold PPI.
:j:jWow, wow, wow. Well done Flamenco:beer:
This is fantastic, enjoy your money:D0 -

Hi there,
I have been reading at length about PPI. I have no documentation about my loans or agreements but i hvae had quote a few of them.
I started by looking at the tips and steps and have come across my first stumbling block.
I logged on for my £2 credit report to obtain details of my loans and the corresponding account numbers; however it does not show the full account agreement only the last 4 digits, how can i proceed witht he letters without the full string?
Thanks0 -
What a wonderful day all the lovely wins being posted
Well Done to you all :j  :j0 -

Has anyone had success claiming against Santander for DFS sofas? It's only a small amount, approx £200 but would still be most welcome. I have lodged the complaint on their website, so I'll let you know how I get on.
They have asked for copy invoices etc (bit strange as surely they would have copies on file), which I have submitted a few weeks ago. Let's see what happens, but I'm not hopeful0 -
Just a quick update to say I'm not doing too well with my PPI claim with DFS. After several phonecalls, passed around the houses, I sent in claims to DFS and Santander. Santander have passed the buck to DFS. DFS have replied to say they don't think there is a case as I signed to say that I wanted PPI, even though I also ticked the boxes to say that I didn't NEED it e.g. I had savings/sick pay from work etc.

Hi there
Sorry to hear about this, but how long ago was it you taken this out (year)?
Not that makes any difference as such really, but have you tried requesting for the data on this account by forms of a Subject Access request (SAR)?
Even though DFS were the ones who sold it to you, they would have passed the main of the details on to Santander (if these were the ones you were paying the monthly repayments back to) as a lender.
If you've not requested for any data on this account, maybe a SAR will help, where they should hold the details of the account over the last 6 years.
Information you require maybe amongst the data dept, where the complaints section may not have bothered checking with.
There is a SAR letter template below if you want to do this, they have up to 40 calendar days to comply and you enclose the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order.
Hope this info helps, good luck.
