  • I got a cheque today for over 3 grand from RSB. The loan I had was with Natwest and they mis sold me PPI on the basis that I was self employed. It was so easy using the template letters from MSE. My loan started in 2002 and finshed payments end of 2006 so I thought it'd be touch and go as to whether I'd have success. I didnt need to make any other contact with them or use the ombudsman, I simply sent the form and after about 3 weeks I got almost double what I was expecting as they told me I had some other ppi that I didnt even know about covering the consolidation of some overdrafts.
It don't half feel good to get one over those bureaucrats. gonna go buy me an ipad in celebration. :T

Had a letter today as follows:

After considering the evidence and information available,i have not found sufficient evidence to agree with your allegations. As such I am unable to uphold your complaint.
As part of my review, I have considered whether you were eligible for the policy and whether the policy was suitable for you. I have also taken into account each of the concerns you raised with us in your complaint and I can confirm that I did not identify any other issues when reviewing your file.
Having completed all of these steps, I went on to look at your complaint as a whole to ensure that we acted fairly towards you in relation to the sale of ppi, giving appropriate weight and balanced consideration to all available evidence.
In order to address the concerns you have raised,I have reviewed all the available sales evidence. I have established that you applied for your C C PPI on 3rd November 1998. To further assists I have taken the following into Consideration.
    Your complaint letter and questionnaire
    Internal sales notes
Our knowledge of our sales process and documentation at the time
    Your sales documentation
You purchased the policy you would have been provided with sales documents that quoted the cost of ppi. It should also be noted that explaining the cost of ppi is a key piece of the process and I am of the opion that this was brought to your attention at the time of sale. I can confirm that it has never been a requirement to take out ppi in order for an application to be accepted.
If you do not agree please contact me. If you remain unhappy contact Fos'

Just going to phone them will post again

Phoned them to confirm the following information they already had:

At no point in the review meeting was I informed PPI would be added - interest was but not ppi.
As previous stated I was entitled to full company sick pay.

'This is not enough. Unless you can produce physical evidence which with it being along time ago people don't seem to have - then we are standing by our decision. If you are not happy then you can go to the FOS.'
  • My wife & I have made approx 10 claims for both credit card & Loan PPI and have been successful to the tune approx. £1800 with half of our complaints not yet finalised. One was for a loan with Alliance & Leicester, Santander paid £600+ with no quibbles for a loan which finished in 1996!

Get back in touch, in writing, reject the reasons they gave for not upholding and ask .... if you have no proof of what was said at the review, then how can the bank say this is what happened at the time of the sale? ask for proof of this, that the PPI was explained to you fully by the member of staff and you were not just given a leaflet to read (the cost and exclusions) and that you agreed to this, they cannot use " we gave you the info" as an excuse for not upholding.

I am waiting to hear about a similar complaint with Lloyds dating from 1997. I have already been offered £1200 in respect of this, however I was able to unearth more documents showing a front loaded PPI amount of £1935. I have (and had at the time) six months sick pay and six months half pay at the time and was told I had to have PPI to get the loan.

So in view of their £1200 offer (which I rejected) will they "automatically" uphold and provide a revised amount? I guess they can't turn around and say you were not mis-sold - or can they?

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say thanks for the support we've received over the last year. This will probably be my last post as we've been beaten. I'm not putting my sister through any more of this crap; we've sent the bumf off to FSCS and spoken to them, but there's 900 cases from Norton Finance so we're just forgetting about it as the likelihood is that nothing will come of this. A waste of time from the start to finish. Good luck and goodbye.

Barclays will try to get out of this because the PPI would have covered you for other Illness that was not directly caused by the Diabetes, write back and reject this on the grounds that most illness with you could be brought on by the Diabetes.

What reasons did you use for mis sell and what were the full reasons they rejected?.

See what they come back with, you never know, they may give you the rest or stick with the offer they have made.

Sorry to hear this, never say never though, you may just get something from FSCS it may take a while but you never know.

I hope you post up when you finally hear from them, I would love it if you finally had this sorted and you posted a success :D so I am not saying goodbye just yet x

You have done well to get this far, most would have given up the ghost a long time ago.
