I received my cheque from Citi this week. This has taken awhile to come after it was upheld & a few phone calls . Am only waiting now for one with Barclaycard. This one has been on the go since Jan 2011. I also had a letter the other day from MBNA saying sorry your claim has taken so long we will send you our decision before 21/05/12. However this claim i received a rejection about 4 weeks ago as they said they had not got the form , so based on thWWe info they had @ there end they declined it. So i sent this to FOS . Now MBNA must have found my complaint form & are now looking into it , so will wait to see the outcome. When barclays & mbna reply that is all my claims finished. The ones that were declined i have sent to FOS . Good Luck to all who are claiming . Thanks to Di & Amersall for there vast ammount of help & encouragement much appreciated. You deserve a medal haha. :j:j:j

Hi Di
:D
Hi honey, hope your well.:j:j
I am going to share a success of mine while I am here.
Not exactly PPI related but this is in regards of a terms critical assurance.
Will not go into full detail, but I wrote to the bank over a month ago, as I found some paperwork of this cover but already had one in place which was cheaper yet far suitable for me, and yet when we mortgaged with them (I had to accept it), the paperwork helped, and there is another 3 where this came from .
Received the letter a few days ago, and they are refunding all paid, plus interest (which they already deducted the basic 20%), plus a little extra compo for the distress and inconvenience.:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, I have just received a letter from lloyds to say they are refunding me a total of £2400 on 2 loans I had with them, both loans were taken out well over 10 years ago ( 1st loan i was only 16 I can't believe i was so stupid to take a loan out at this age and the fact that they let me). So my total success in reclaiming ppi back is £2400 from lloyds and £14580 from Halifax mortgage tmpp so in total £16980 and its all thanks to this site :money: providing fantastic advice and giving me confidence in claiming it back on my own and not using claims companies. xxx0

I am due to pay the Inland Revenue income tax on the 8% interest received. I do not want my tax code to change. Instead, I want to send a cheque for the amount due. Can someone please advise me where to send the cheque? Is there a section on here giving information? I'd appreciate your help on this. Thanks.0

Hi Shirley
I take it that your a basic rate tax payer? If so then it will be taxed at 20%, if your not a tax payer you do not pay it (as far as i am aware).
If your a higher tax payer then they take a little more, but before you just automatically send the payment, I believe you contact the HMRC first.
Then they will confirm how much, so you can tell them you prefer to get it done with by sending the cheque.
I take it then that the business have not automatically deducted the tax?
With some they do but they should confirm so in the letter you received.
Below I will post some details that I received with a letter.
Please bear with me to post it though lol. XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Your questions answered about your certificate deduction of Income Tax.
Why will a certificate of deduction of income tax be issued to me?
An interest payment has been made in your favour and we are obligated to deduct income tax at the rate of 20% from your gross payment. The certificate records details of the interest payment made to you and the tax deducted.
If I am a higher tax payer, will I pay more tax?
Yes, you will need to include details of the interest payment and tax deducted on your Self Assessment Tax Return so that the additional liability may be assessed correctly.
If I am a basic rate tax payer, will I pay more tax?
Usually no, unless you are to close to the higher rate for the threshold. If the gross interest payment together with your total income for the tax year takes you into the higher rate tax threshold, then you will be liable for additional tax.
If I am a lower tax rate payer, will I pay more tax?
Provided the gross interest payment when added to your other income for the tax year doesn't exceed the higher tax threshold, no further income tax will be payable. If your total income is below a certain amount, you may be able to claim back part of the tax deducted by contacting your Inspector of Taxes.
If I am a non-tax payer, what does this mean for me?
As your interest payment has had tax deducted at scource, you may be able to reclaim all or part of this tax by contacting your Inspector of Taxes.
Does the additional income affect the extra tax allowance I receive for being over 65?
It can if the gross interest payment in addition to your total income exceeds the income limit for Age Allowances for the Tax Year.
What do I need to do with the certificate?
The certificate should be kept in a safe place and retained so that the details can be transferred to your Self Assessment Tax Return. In some circumstances, the Inspector may want to see the certificate.
THIS IS BASED ON THE CURRENT UNDERSTANDING OF INLAND REVENUE PRACTICE. IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT YOUR OWN TAX POSITION, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR USUAL TAX ADVISER OR THE INLANCD REVENUE.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
