  • Hi All,
Just a quick question in regards to a PPI refusal from Barclaycard. The good lady has had her card for over 15 years and has had ppi on it from day one. However she has always been employed by large corporates who provided full illness cover. Barclaycards letter states that it was a postal application and therefore was not miss-sold, she cant remember doing it via post but it was such a long time ago, would anyone have any advice where she should go from here? many thanks in advance

Contact them and tell them you have a claim in for one loan that they have the account number for and ask them to look at this and see if they can find the other loan, if either of these loans were used to repay the other off.

I have phoned RBS twice this week
1st - Asked them to look if they could get the loan number from information of claim thats ongoing was told they would look into it

2nd - Asked why nobody had contacted me was told they cant get any information I would have to request a SAR.

I checked by bank account yesterday and got a heck of a shock normally I am looking to see how far into the overdraft I am and instead I found out nearly 14k had been put into mine and my husbands accounts from PPI claims on loans the latest going back to 1995.

The letters arrived today explaining what we had been offered. We were inspired to claim as my husband was asked by Halifax if he wanted to claim on a routine call about his credit card. I also had an interest free deal on my MBNA card close which meant I was having to pay an extra £400 per month. I approached Lloyds who we bank with for a loan and was told no credit was available to me.

We spend a day filling in forms and copying bank statements and to date have received 22k in refunds and compensation. We have been successful on loans against Lloyds and credit cards against Halifax, Natwest and Marks and Spencer.

We have one rejection on Barclaycard which we are appealing to FOS and still have around 8 claims outstanding. I have today paid off the awful MBNA card and have reduced by cards from 3 to 1 with what we have received and we are tackling my husbands cards next.

    So happy today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to do the £66.41 times the whole term of the loan and not just the months that are left, this gives you the whole PPI total that was put on the loan and this is the amount they take off the balance, see if this adds up.

It is possible that the balance has been reduced by the whole redress, this includes what you are getting back to you and when they send you this amount then they will put it back onto the loan.

Make sure your monthly payments go down by the PPI monthly amount for the next 26 months.

Hurry up and find out what has happened, I am curious now :D

All sorted this morning when I went into my branch.

My remaining loan balance has now been confirmed as £4,775.46.

When the balance was showing as £923, apparently the loan was still being restructured and now I have a figure nearer to what I thought it should be.

All in all though I am still VERY happy though. My loan is about £2,500 lower than it was, and I have had some £4,600 paid into my bank a/c! :D

    Thanks again to everyone here!

  • Received our cheque this morning from Halifax, so it took 8 weeks exactly for 2 loans and 1 credit card to be settled with them, two cheques issued and our loan with them paid off!!!! just over £8k in total. Happy Days

After my success with MBNA credit cards(just under £9000) i have now had success from Northern Rock Paysafe (NRAM) which had PPI on my mortgage total payment due back £1857, not unhappy with this although felt it should have been more still if i hadnt of called then i would never have received anything.

I also had a reply from Barclaycard saying they needed more time to resolved my cases (3 of them) and i would hear in due course, when i phoned them they put no time on the case and to contact them in a couple of weeks, or go to the the Ombudsman. Not sure what to do here as it could take ages with the Ombudsman or stick with Barclaycard to resolve the matter in due course, anyone else had this problem?

i'm at same point as you with barclaycard, got same letter by what you have written, ..waiting for copy of my signed account letter to get to them from branch i got card from.
called them twice ,first time got annoying answer of i'd get reply within another 8 weeks. wasnt happy about that as they have had more than enough time to get info they need, but as i know there snowed under with claims at present was willing to give them a few extra weeks,. phoned them last week (2 weeks after first call) to be told info still not with them, and that it shouldnt take 8 weeks, but maybe a couple more(so min 5 weeks). bit of a joke ,but they know people would rather wait 5-8 weeks than 5-12 months through the fos...........i'm expecting the claim to be refused, and i'll have to go down the fos route, just a feeling i'm getting from the looooooooooong waiting process i'm going through, but its only few weeks to find out so i'll just keep ringing and annoying them til i do get a result one way or the other, because if you dont ring, they'll just put you at the back of the queue. good luck in your claim, and i'll let you know how iget on.:)
