Hi All,
Just wanted to say a big thank you to this site and all posters to this board.
I finally filled in the claim form off this site mid-March for an Egg loan I had previously. I couldn't remember the account numbers so gave Egg a call on their customers services number and a very helpful lady gave me the account details- informing me I had actually had two loans with them not one! Bonus!!!
Sent the forms off and within a couple of weeks received a letter saying they were investigating it. On Friday 13th April we got two letters from them saying claims had been upheld and we would be getting just over £9000 back!!! Today the first cheque for £5500 has arrived and waiting for the second one before cashing them. We are using the money on a much needed holiday as my husband was made redundant in November and still hasn't got another job- so house is stressful!!!.
Whole process as cost me the price of a first class stamp and one phone call. I would stress to anyone thinking of using a claims company not to as the form to be filled in is so simple, and really what have you got to loose trying it out for yourself.
Have now sent off claims for Egg card and Virgin Card ;-).
Good luck to all waiting to hear about claims0 -
Hi All
Just wanted to pop in to thank people for all the helpful advice on these PPI threads.
Yesterday I sent off PPI claims to Egg Card (now Barclaycard), Halifax (Loan), CapitalOne (Credit Card), Burton Store Card (Santander, formerly GEC) & Aqua Credit Card.
I'm hopeful on 4 of them -
Egg Card - was taken out in February 2005, I eventually cancelled the PPI in August 2009 when I realised I had it. I didn't sign up to PPI at the time and I'm hopeful on this one as the account was opened between the timeframe of Jan 05 and Dec 07 which is the period Egg were fined for mis-sold PPI.
Burton Store Card - had it for years and unfortunately still have it. I got it in 1996!! and has been a thorn in my side for nearly 16 years, I think I got what seems like 2 pairs of trousers and a pair of shoes for an almost constant balance of £1500. Terrible. Anyway while going through my Credit File the account was opened on 27th August 1996 when I was 18 and unemployed, in between school and university on my Summer Holidays. I'm hoping this plus an automatic tick in the PPI box in the form which was filled out by a shop assistant in the store will go some way to upholding my claim.
CapitalOne Credit Card - was taken out in March 2005. I'm hopeful on this one as it is between the period of January 2005 and April 2006 which is the period Capital One have been fined for mis-sold PPI by not giving customers important info on the policy.
Halifax Loan - was taken out in July 2006. Blatant forcing of PPI onto the loan, claims of not been given the loan if I didn't take out PPI and then when I eventually succumbed they then proceeded to try and force an upgrade to 'Gold' level PPI which would give me an even greater chance of getting approved for the loan, so I agreed.
I also have a few more to go out -
Alliance & Leicester Loan - just need to get the account number. Loan was taken out in July 2006. Same sort of forcing the PPI as the Halifax. Also hopeful on this one as it was taken out between the dates of Jan 05 and Dec 07 when A & L were fined a whopping £7million for mis-sold PPI.
Welcome Finance - not sure on this one, don't have account number and I think they are practically closed down now. Loan was taken out in December 2007. PPI wasn't even mentioned, it was just included fullstop lol no questions asked.
HFC - small HP loan, again no account number so will have to chase up but again opened in november 2005 which was in betwen the dates Jan 2005 and May 2007 which is the perios HFC were fined for mis-sold PPI.
Will keep you updated as to how I get on.
Have people found they have had more success with PPI reclaims if their policies have fallen within the periods of time the FSA has identified as serious failings in the selling of PPI? Would be interested to know.

Hi there - I received a similar rejection yesterday and am also fuming! I will be replying to disagree but need to review the matter again - I think there is a 14 day deadline to reply - other than that I am also stuck x
What reasons did you give in your claim for mis-selling
Hi - thanks for responding: reasons given -
Applied for old style "budget card" in store (albeit 1993); fixed repayment (say £20 for £1,000 credit) - do not recall being advised the £20 included an element of PPI; certainly not given any information about the policy and would not have wanted to pay the additional amount in any case, I also stated that I have a pre-existing med condition etc. FOS (adjudicator) has basically taken on board M&S' rejection and concludes that it "is more than likely that I opted to take PPI and was given the leaflet etc etc" which is absolutely NOT The case!!! I am typing a response right now - extremely disappointed to put it mildly! :cool:0 -
Having seen the campaign by Martin, I encouraged my sister to claim back on a loan she took out over 6 years ago. Having followed all the advice on this website, she is now in receipt of a cheque of £1,800 from Direct Line,of which £400 relates to interest on the payments. Thanks Martin!!0

1) It was not missold as it took until 2007 for me to cancel it.
2) It was declared seperately on my monthly statement.
3) I filled in the forms myself.
4) The wording on the form was easy to understand.
s there anything I can do now or do I give up?0 -
