Is it a good sign if the bank takes the full 8 weeks to look at your claim? Just wondering if they have grounds to turn you down flat would you hear from them sooner? Ive made a few claims and on one the 8 weeks is almost up and I've been told over the phone they've started to look at my claim but they're going to need the full 8 weeks.
It could go either wayfingers crossed

made a claim for ppi on Cap1 card, received reply within a few weeks and now just over 8 weeks later have received a letter asking for proof of income from 2002. made the claim on grounds of no conversation on T's & C's I had pre-existing medical which was not discussed. So why would they want proof of income?
Give them a ring and ask why they want this info as this has nothing to do with the reasons you gave for your complaint.
I could be wrong and they may want to know this for other reasons, but if it is to see if you could claim unemployment on the PPI then tell them you would not have taken PPI to cover for unemployment, especially if you could have paid the minimum payment on the card and it would not have left you struggling.
This is me thinking in fronttoo far sometimes
but you will not know what they need this info until you phone them.

What did they actually say in the rejection? the front loaded should have won this for you.
They gave the full criteria list they adhere to when checking reasons and in the list were pressured into sale, and single premium but they just said having looked at the above were unable to uphold your complaint.
It just seems like a standard fob off letter, they havnt give specific reasons why my mis sale reasons were not upheld.:mad:0 -
Hi i wrote to M&S about my PPI got a letter saying they have upheld my complaint but cant go any further as they dont have the statements as its longer than 6 years, they have said if i have any to send them in b ut i dont so i am stuck
I will be interested to hear how you get on. M&S upheld and refunded PPI on one loan from about 2004 (they must have had the details) and linked it to 3 other loans that they said they couldn't find paperwork on and so had no idea if PPI was paid.
I have recently come accross the agreements for the other 3 loans, dating back to early 1990s and sent them on, but have heard nothing yet.
When Barclays couldn't find paperwork but had proof of PPI they made me an offer as a gesture of goodwill. .
Perhaps if they have upheld and know you did pay PPI they could make you an offer or otherwise take it to FOS? I am sure there are others on here who will have better advice.0 -
Hi first time post.
Just plucked up the courage to complain about ppi on two loans. One with A&L and the other Abbey
We were told both times that we had to have ppi to get the loan.
With the abbey one we deliberately didn't tick the box for ppi, but the forms came back with a note to say if we don't tick the box we couldn't have the loan!! So for two years we paid the ppi (£101.25) which was included in the monthly payment. Then I tried to cancel but was told " oh no you have to get a new loan without ppi"
After loads of back and forth letters they just reduced the payment by £42 so we carried on and this is now all paid .
They were both front loaded so I live in hope.
It's been two weeks since posted so I'll keep you posted
Got back from doing the Asda run this morning to a letter from Santander .
Up held on the alliance & Leicester to the sum of £ 4152.
Just got to sign acceptance and they say within two weeks .
Not bad for three weeks .
Just waiting on the other . Fingers crossed !'!!!0 -

If this is not a final response then write back and reject this due to the fact that this loan PPI was a single premium PPI that was added to the loan and you paid this back to term end with interest and this was not explained in full for you to make an informed decision, if they do not reconsider then you will pass this to the FOS to look at.0 -
yummymummy1152 wrote: »Hello everyone,
Wanted to share my story and also ask for some advice.
V briefly, in Sept 2011 I contacted Halifax regarding PPI misselling on my mortgage. I submitted complaint and it was upheld. In November I was made an offer of £777.28. I contacted them and said that we were expecting much more as we had been paying premiums for 4 years. They said that this was for one year only, and I should accept that and they would open a new complaint for the remaining 3 years. I didnt understand why this was the case but they told me on the phone that this wouldn't prejudice my claim on the rest. So, in December 2011 we received a cheque. In January 2012 I was concerned not to have heard anything so contacted them again. They had not submitted the complaint correctly apparently. In February I received a letter apologising and saying that they were looking into it and would be in touch shortly.
Since February I have chased them up constantly by phone but they seem to have switched to a call centre in the Philippines rather than the place In Leeds which I had previously spoken to. The new call centre has no idea and seems to be designed to fob you off. They just say'no news yet'. I feel that as by my calculation I am owed about £2.5k in premiums and interest, that Halifax have robbed me! I am so angry and frustrated! I wrote to them again 3 weeks ago in Leeds and have still had no response.
Does anyone have a phone no for Leeds where it is possible to speak to a person who actually has a clue rather than these infuriating call centres, or has anyone else experienced this? Should I now go to the FOS?
Thanks
Give FOS a ring and ask them what you should do, especially as you have accepted the year redress as told to by a staff member, but this may prejudice your claim for the remaining years as by accepting the cheque you have accepted the redress for the MPPI.0 -
I have received a letter from the Ombudsman's adjudicator for my two claims v Marks and Spencer's store card from 1995 and my Personal reserve from 1999 and the subsequent claim against the companies who ran the PPI) rejected on the grounds that
1) It was not missold as it took until 2007 for me to cancel it.
2) It was declared seperately on my monthly statement.
3) I filled in the forms myself.
4) The wording on the form was easy to understand.
Is there anything I can do now or do I give up?0 -

It is their final response, both loans were payed off within 2 years does that make a difference and one loan consolidated the other.
I feel like im destined never to have any wins with PPI, firstplus fobbed me off and now Barclays.:mad:0 -
They could be asking as when you took the PPI they may have the record of your income and hours at the time and you may have been covered by the unemployment part of the PPI, do you have records of pay from 2002? I certainly do not

Will update when they get back to me, having to do everything by post as they are only supplying a postal address for the claim handler. I don't have a record of pay that far back and I m wondering if this is what they are hoping for. I did mention on original complaint that my spouse would have paid minimum payments had i lost my job or fell ill.0
