  • What were you reclaiming: Loan taken out about 5 years ago
    Who was the provider: NatWest
How much did you get back: 1500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Just one of Martin's letters
And then write your brief reclaim tale:

This was the easiest thing ever! I've watched Martin on GMTV several times and it jogged my memory that he was talking about me. I took out a loan about 5 years ago and I am sure they told me that I had to have the insurance to get the loan so of course I did it. There was no discussion about it being optional, or that I could buy it elsewhere or even whether I needed it (I've never been unemployed or sick).

I went to this website, followed the instructions, downloaded the first letter, edited it as instructed and posted it off. It took me all of 10 mins. It was about 3-4 weeks before I received a response saying they were looking into it. The whole thing has taken about 2 months but there was no argument and no need for me to write a second time.

They are not admitting liability but because they cannot find out exactly what happened, as a "gesture of good will" they are refunding all money paid for the insurance. Of course my repayments have dropped too!

I would not have done this without the encouragement and support of Martin and this website, in fact I wouldn't have had a clue that I was mis-sold the insurance so a great big THANK YOU!

My advice is send the letter off - it can't do any harm, takes only minutes and you might just get a windfall like me. I so wanted to be able to write this success!! :j

    Hi Thanks for your post

I dont know the exact date the FOS received my complaint but it was around the middle of March 2008. I got a letter dated 10th March 09 from the adjudicator to inform me he was now investigating my complaint then on the 13th March I got another letter confirming that my complaint had been upheld and Welcome have by the 26th March to reply.
My reason for miss selling is that during signing my loan agreement I felt pressured by the salesmen into taking out the PPI and fet I really didn't really feel I had any option. The PPI was just added to my loan in one lump sum.

    :D

Oooohhh, I'm so excited, hope mine wont be long my letter from them to say they'd received my complaint was march 12th 08. Oh I really am so pleased for you. Please keep in touch and let us know whether Welcome agree or not. Big Well done to you!!! :T:T
