PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I had a loan with Firstplus for £15000 and was mis-sold the PPI. I wrote my own letters to Firstplus and requested all the recorded phone calls which they did supply free of charge. After much tooing and froing of letters, they eventually offered my a 'good will gesture' payment of £829. I thanked them very much, but refused it on the grounds the policy was mis-sold and I wanted all my money back, which was £2900. I went to the Financial Ombudsmen and won my case. I have been informed Firstplus have agreed to pay me £3,600. The ombudsmen told me that the method used to caluclate the amounts to be paid back are laid out by the Ombudsmen and Firstplus have agreed to abide by those rules. I have recently returned the acceptance letter which I received from the Ombudsmen, so all I need to do now is wait for my cheque to arrive.
A big Congratulations to you, this is fantastic news, especially as its in regards of FP, so well done to you hunni  :T  , this will give others hope as well, good one hun.:T :A

Yay!
Wrote ONE letter to HSBC telling them we wanted our PPI insurance refunded (on dmp and paying off loan) - very basic letter, and they've done it - £1400 knocked off the original amount owed! How fantastic!
Thanks Martin!!!MSE-ing since 20070 -

HI
After a long 12 months wait the FOS has upheld my complaint against Welcome Finance for the miss selling of PPI.
An adjudicator has requested I am refunded the full amount of PPI on my loan of £3500 which is £1821.90 plus £200 compensation for my distress and inconveniance.
"Overall I conclude that Welcome Finance failed to pay sufficient regard to the interests of its customer and that it did not treat her fairly. Because of this I am of the opinion that the complaint should succeed"
I still have two weeks to wait and see if Welcome finally do the right thing and pay up! If not it will drag on longer but I wont give up!
Hope this gives some hope to everyone who has been patiently waiting. Its worth it in the end.

Yayyyyy!!!! So so so pleased to finally see a welcome complaint being upheld on this thread. Can I ask what date the FOS received your complaint? How long ago was it allocated to an adjudicator? And what were your reasons for mis-selling.
