PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I'm wondering if aybody can help. I had complained to Barclaycard about PPI for a Barclaycard cc and Egg cc. After emailing CEO about length of time I had waited received letter saying Egg cc they couldn't find any info on but if I could provide any further info they would look again. Unfortunately I don't have statements, policy numbers etc. Barclaycard cc was rejected due to being postal application and they say I opted for it. This was their final response and I could take to FOS if not happy. This was taken out in 2003. I then sent a SAR but on receiving there are only statements from Barclaycard cc going back to 2006. My query is surely if they could tell me my application was postal and I had ticked the box for PPI I should have received a copy of this? Should they not have sent me statements etc from Egg cc now Barclaycard. Would it be useful for me to send SAR to Egg? This cc was one that account was closed (but was still paying balance) before Barclaycard took over.
Sorry for so many queries but am seriously unhappy with Barclaycards customer service (by far the worst bank I have dealt with) and any advice would be gratefully received as not sure what my next step should be
I would contact Egg and ask if they have any info on you as Barclays only go to the point they took over from Egg, let them know that Barclays do not have all the info, if you get no joy then Sar Egg.0 -
From the point he was retired the sickness and unemployment benefit would have been useless to him, if he had life insurance in place already then you need to write back to the bank and reject the reasons for them not upholding this claim due to the fact that why would he pay for cover that had been explained to him when the card was activated, that he could not make a claim on.
What were the reasons for the rejection and was this a final response from the bank?.
The reason they gave for the rejection is that he would have been made aware that the policy was optional. is this a good reason??
He did and still has life insurance. They have told his that he has 28 days to respond or they will consider the complaint closed.
Do you think he still has good reason considering that he already had life insurance elsewhere?
thank you:beer:0 -

Can someone please give me the email address of the C.E.O of the Bank of Scotland. I have an ongoing( sent the 6th of February) ppi complaint with them which I am been giving the run around with
First they send me an acknowledgement thanking me for my letter about my loan account, then after 8 weeks they managed to get this muddled up with another credit card account I had with them despite this being two different numbers, It took me to point out that the loan and the credit card where not the same account but were two separate issues, they said they would prioritise my loan account this was on the 2nd of April but when called today nothing has been done and its still under review, I then enquired about my preference account and was told I did not have ppi on this after 2006 and I said my card goes back further than this and have statements showing credit care cover from 1998 they replied that this was now still being investigated but the 8 weeks are up on the 30/4/2012. Is this normal banking behaviour. Maybe I should be patient and give them more time or do I email the ceo.:mad::mad:0 -

I wrote to LLoyds TSB on 01/03/12 regarding being mis-sold PPI, and I am surprised by the quick turnaround. However, I have paid out some £3850 in PPI, so I am not sure what this smaller amount relates to!?
I was under the impression that it was total premiums paid plus 8% interest?
I will wait and see if I receive a letter and hopefully that will explain everything. I am of course happy to have received something, but just a little confused. I just thought that I was either mis-sold PPI or I wasn't, but I seem to have received a partial refund, so maybe I was partially mis-sold PPI?!?!?!

It's all become clearer this morning!:D:D:D
I have had a letter today from Lloyds TSB stating that my total PPI refund is.....
£4,607.47!
This is just great news! It turns out that the £755.69 that went into my a/c last week was in fact the interest. The remaining £3,851.78 is going to be sent to me either by cheque or will be paid straight into my a/c.
I had always been daunted by the idea of "going it alone" regarding my claim and had previously planned to take the seemingly easier route and use a company. However, coming on here changed everything. I would have never done this by myself without the help of MSE and the great people on this forum. Thank you doesn't seem like enough, but I am eternally grateful.

Hi satanindrag,
:jThis is great news:beer:
I'm glad you have sorted this out.
On the reclaiming side, if you had used a claims company it would have been you doing all the hard work and they would have charged you for the privilage. It just doesn't make sense to give them YOUR money:)
Well done:Dfor you.

thank you:beer:
Ask them for proof that he was made aware that this PPI was optional and that he still took this product after it was explained fully to him regarding the exclusions (retirement) and that he still took this PPI knowing that he would not have been covered and he had life insurance in place elsewhere? as if you would
Reject with this and tell them if they do not reconsider then it will be passed to FOS.0 -

Got an offer letter dated 29.3.12 saying Lloyds were upholding my loan complaint, interest calculated to 23.4.12, which is today, and guess what??? Still no payment in the bank, phoned them tonight and they said there is nothing showing on their system to pay out yet. Ive to phone back on Friday and they will try and rush the payment through, I don't think it will be any time soon that I will be getting paid.0
