    HI all

been progressing some more claims and have found tha It ahve jstu received 1301 refund from lloyds for a loan I took in 2001.

I am not being awkward but I would like to know if this makes sense

loan value was 3500, and had 695 front loaded ppi

montly payment was 171 and the interest rates was a hefty 12% and the term was 30 months.

the loan was taken out I think in June 2001, and ran to the term.

can any of you clever mathmatical people do a quick reccy of the numbers and see if the offer makes sence or what the redress should have been.

    Thanks

    Andrew

The PPI of £695 (did this include the interest?) is given back to you with 8% the interest on the PPI is included in the PPI monthly payment, looks to me like they have given you the whole PPI back with interest.
:T congrats on your win

Hi, I am after a bit of advice.

I have just received a letter from Lloyds stating that they are not upholding my CC PPI complaint.:(

My main reason for the complaint was that I was out of work due to sickness when the policy was taken out and so would never have been covered.
I was also not aware that I even had PPI (it is on the statements but I was young and naive and didn't notice).

Lloyds state that I took out the PPI over the phone so I must have spoken to someone (although I don't remember).

They go on to say "I am of the opinion that where it was practical the features of the policy were discussed at the point of sale. having considered all the available evidence including the policy booklet, I have come to the conclusion that the features of the policy were adequately presented to you."

I don't understand how they can state this as my work status must have been applicable to the application, and as it was done on the phone it was an advised sale.

Surely this is clear mis-selling, or am I missing something?

Do I pursue this with LLoyds or just go straight to the FOS?

    Thanks in advance.

If this is not a final response then write back and reject the reasons for them not upholding the claim and ask for the proof of the telephone conservation that has the person on the phone fully explaining the costs of this PPI and what the exclusions were as you do not believe this was fully explained to you.

When you were off sick was this illness something that could recur?
If it was then had you taken ill again this PPI would not have covered you the next time this happened, did you have life insurance? if you did then why would you take another life insurance when you already had one running.

This CC was taken out in 2001, I was 22 (still young and nieve).

The illness was severe deppresion which could recur (it hasn't luckily).
I didn't have life insurance, does this make a difference?.

I am wondering if Lloyds Send out a rejection letter as standard now?

Having just checked I did have life insurance with a healthcare policy (through Lloyds as well).
  • What were you reclaiming: Loan(s)
    Who was the provider: Lloyds
How much did you get back: £13,445
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the FOS: Letter and following Martin's tips/steps.

I received the final response today; well pleased!

I was considering approaching a PPI claim company because I was very unsure about these matters but after receiving Martin's weekly money tip's by email I visited this site, followed Martin's advice/claim process and pursued it myself; Martin's video, his enthusiasm and the explanation of the process persuaded me. I started the process at the end of Jan 12 (requesting T & C etc) and submitted the complaint/FOS form to Lloyda in Feb 12. I only needed to contact Lloyds for an update on the progress on a couple of occasions. I complained about 1 loan (running from 2005-2010) and added the loan account number for a previous loan which this loan paid off (I had no other details other than the loan account number). The final response includes full PPI payments and interest for the 2005-2010 loan, the same again for the previous loan and the same again for a loan prior to that (which I would not have remembered had they not included it).

I am still waiting for the decision on 3 other complaints with differing companies but am well pleased with the results so far.

Thank you Martin and the MSE team! I am now totally debt free with money in the bank and can treat the family to a nice summer holiday.
  • Hi everyone, can anyone help me with what to do next. I put in a complaint with BOS regarding mortgage PPI that I took out in 2001. They replied after 6 weeks saying they are not upholding my complaint as I didnt have PPI but I know that I did as when I remortgaged in 2005 to Halifax I had it then as well. I do not have any paperwork to prove this so not sure what to do next. The lady on the phone said I would need to send documentation to prove this but dont have any! Any help would be appreciated.

Unless you can find some documentary evidence to back up your conviction that you had payment protection, I fear this may be the end of the road.
You could ask for a Subject Access Request, but is it worth the £10 since the Bank state you didn't purchase PPI?
