I followed Martin's instructions to the letter.
HSBC responded by informing me that i had had three previous loans with them - for all, i had been charged for PPI that i had not requested.
They requested that i fill in another proforma for the other two loans, I contacted them to explain i didn't recall my applications for these. I was encouraged to fill the form out the best i could which i did.
Today, i received a letter detailing the PPI that i paid, the 8% interest they were willing to pay to me on top of reimbursement of the PPI. The amount...£6518.17!! It cost me the price of recorded delivery and now we are finally in a position with this money to consider buying our first home.
HSBC, to their credit made this a painless process.
Martin and his team - thank you! This site is making such a difference to the lives of so many.:T

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, does anyone have an email address for MBNA???
Wrote to MBNA in 2009 and again on 19 Feb 2012 to reclaim PPI and Credit Card Charges - both letters sent by recorded delivery - still no response from MBNA!
Rang them on 19 Mar 2012, they said they'd received our letter and acknowledged it in writing (to wrong address) but would now reply to correct address - still no word. They said they had 8 wks to deal with this (which has now passed).
I rang again this morning but they would not discuss account with me because it is my husbands and he was not here to give permission for them to speak to me (even though he already gave gave them this permission last time we rang on 19 March) - my husband is away a lot and I am just trying to get a response. I asked for an email address on the phone this morning and they wouldn't give me one - they said he could register the card online and send a message that way. I've just tried that and it wouldn't work as the card is old (expired 2009)!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED0 -
HI all
been progressing some more claims and have found tha It ahve jstu received 1301 refund from lloyds for a loan I took in 2001.
I am not being awkward but I would like to know if this makes sense
loan value was 3500, and had 695 front loaded ppi
montly payment was 171 and the interest rates was a hefty 12% and the term was 30 months.
the loan was taken out I think in June 2001, and ran to the term.
can any of you clever mathmatical people do a quick reccy of the numbers and see if the offer makes sence or what the redress should have been.
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on behalf of my Father. He's been retired since 1998. He's had a Credit Card with Lloyds for more than 20years. When he received a new one back in 2001 he rang to activate it. The man on the phone said we'd like to offer you some life insurance to go with your card, it could be worth £20,000 to you. My father agreed to this but little did he know that it was actually PPI that was added to his card.
He did make a a call to Lloyds in 2006 and asked for it to be stopped. For some unknown reason it wasn't and he continued to pay it until 2010 when they stopped taking it as he had reached 75.
He called them a few weeks ago to put in his complaint for missold PPI and has found out today that they have rejected his claim and told them to go to the FOS.
Am I right in thinking that as he was retired he wouldn't have been covered anyway?? Its not he's expecting a lot as he's never had much on the card but if this is sufficient reason for being missold he would obviously like his money back.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
What were the reasons for the rejection and was this a final response from the bank?.0 -

You could ask for an update on your claims but they will take as long as they take to be honest, let them get on with it and I hope you have the results soon.0 -
Hi, I am after a bit of advice.
I have just received a letter from Lloyds stating that they are not upholding my CC PPI complaint.:(
My main reason for the complaint was that I was out of work due to sickness when the policy was taken out and so would never have been covered.
I was also not aware that I even had PPI (it is on the statements but I was young and naive and didn't notice).
Lloyds state that I took out the PPI over the phone so I must have spoken to someone (although I don't remember).
They go on to say "I am of the opinion that where it was practical the features of the policy were discussed at the point of sale. having considered all the available evidence including the policy booklet, I have come to the conclusion that the features of the policy were adequately presented to you."
I don't understand how they can state this as my work status must have been applicable to the application, and as it was done on the phone it was an advised sale.
Surely this is clear mis-selling, or am I missing something?
Do I pursue this with LLoyds or just go straight to the FOS?
Thanks in advance.0 -

They have acknowledged the claim so you know they have received this and are looking at it.
The timing is off though as they should have by now sent you a final response letter or a letter asking for more time, the only thing you can do is write to them if your Hubby cannot phone them and complain at the length of time it is taking and that you will be contacting FOS.
It is possible that a letter is on it's way with with the final response so I would give it a few more days.
Try an email to this guy, ask what the delay is.

My partner has an mbna credit card, he took out the card when we were in Manchester airport just before boarding, it was filled out by the bloke and my partner signed on the dotted line all very rushed!!!!We sent of the forms to them to claim back ppi unfortunately as I've read on here if it's not sent recorded they will conveniently not receive it, yes this happened 2 days ago I asked him to ring for an update they said no forms are there.
What I find very strange is they said a letter had been sent out telling us this,we received the letter today and it says it's they have made a final decision they are not going to pay out as the forms were signed. And we now need to start fos.
How do they know under what circumstance the forms were signed in
If this was not a final response then contact them, tell them you disagree with this rejection due to the way the card was "sold" to your partner and how can anyone have had the time to be told about the cost of the PPI and read through the terms and condition in that environment, if your partner had a good sick pay package from his employer and life insurance then tell them why would anybody pay for extra cover when two of the insurable benefits were already in place and the sick pay was free.
If this was the final response then send all paperwork to FOS fill in the questionnaire and enclose a copy of the rejection you have from the bank.0
