I've been told over the phone that my PPI claim on two loans with Lloyds TSB hasn't been upheld and a letter is on the way. Both loans had PPI front loaded and for both loans we were never given two amounts to choose from (ie. payments with PPI included and payments without). We were simply told how much the payments would be and accepted them as basically, we were strapped for cash and wanted the money asap. We've always wanted to keep our outgoings as low as possible so have always spread loans over long terms eg. 5 years. We would never have chosen to pay something, effectively increasing our outgoings unnecessarily, had we known we didn't have to. We both have had the same employer for over 20 years with full sick pay etc.
My question is do we stand a chance with the Financial Ombusman or are we wasting our time?

This is odd!! front loaded is the main reason for mis sell and the most upheld of all PPI reclaim.

What exactly did they say were their reasons for not upholding and was this the final response?.

    PPI New question please
    Hello all,

After all the news about PPI, I contacted my previous mortgage provider and complained about the total mortgage protection plan (TMPP) added to my initial mortgage. I was definitely misold because I worked through an agency and I was sceptical even at the time that it would be good value but was made to feel that it was part of the mortgage.
I have received a letter after my first and only phone call basically accepting liablility iand offering me a refund of my premium of £609.84 and interest at the gross of 8% (£385.62). The TMPP was made up of Mortgage repayment cover (MRC), Life cover and Critical illness cover. This refund is only based on the MRC element as they say it's is the only PPI.
Should I accept this initial offer?, Do I have any claim on the other elements of the TMPP?
Any advice welcome. Thank you very much

    Hi there

If your not sure on this, I would ask them to look into the other elements as well, if you have not done so, maybe if your happy with that actual offer on that particular element you can let them know that, and tell them you will appreciate they will look into the others separately, even if they were not PPI related you still feel you have issues in regarding the other elements and will appreciate they look into them as well.

I cannot see it being a problem to accept the one they offered and then get writing on the others when you receive the payment for that one, they have made it clear they are not ppi related so surely this should not intervene on your making a complaint about them too.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

Got letter in yesterday saying that Lloyds were paying out on 2 loans I had with them. £1200 for 1 and £1500 for the second. I had noticed that there was nothing for the third loan so I phoned them up. Said they didn't have any paperwork for the 3rd loan to prove there was ppi on it but they gave me the loan number at the start of my complaint as I didnt have any details of the 3 loans. One was in 2010, 2008 and the other one must have been before then, so I think they are only going to go back the 6 years unless I can give them some paperwork. Makes me mad knowing that they do have the details and that there would have been ppi on it, as I have it on everything that I have every had off Lloyds plus told me a letter was sent out on the 22nd march(not received it) that they are also not upholding my complaint on my mortgage as they feel that this was not mid- sold. Does anyone have any advise on what now to write to the bank to try and get them to change their mind before taking my complaint to fos. Thanks

    Hi

I understood if if no paperwork, Lloyds have been offering the standard goodwill offers of £1200.
If you know you definately had PPI with that loan, and if they are aware of this and your willing to accept the standard goodwill offer rate, maybe you could contact them to let them know that.

    Good luck.

Thanks Di, I will contact them again, have you any advise about the mortgage ppi not getting upheld?
  • I was absolutely over the moon to receive a letter from NRAM telling me that they had agreed to repay me £2800 on my loan!

Has anybody else recieved payback from NRAM? and if so how long do they normally take to put the cash in your account?

I sent the acceptance letter on March 21....

    Thanks for any help.
