The Bank must acknowledge receipt of your complaint and has eight weeks to give a "full and final response". If you haven't received your response (or you don't agree with it)when eight weeks is over, you are then within your rights to go to the Ombudsman. Note that there are many many complaints to all the Banks at the moment, so I don't recommend holding them to the day and the hour. The Ombudsman route can take many months, so please don't be too hasty.A bit of advice please.
Just spoke to BC and asked if there was any news on my complaint, I was told that nothing yet even though they told me I would hear by the 28th March, she told me it was not 8 weeks but 40 working days is that correct?
The Bank has 40 days to respond to Subject Access Requests (SAR), although "40 working days" for a Bank (Mon-Fri) equates to....eight weeks.0 -

Newbie member joined today - thanks everyone for giving me the kick up the backside to claim PPI missold from a loan I had with HSBC in 1999 - 4 week turnaround from initial complaint - sent off acceptance letter for £2261.00.
Do not use a claims company you can do it yourself :beer:0 -
Hello to everyone, put a claim into Lloyds/TSB in early December 2011 for my credit cards going back to 1988. Received a letter late December stating I had a claim. They offered £670 compensation which I believed to be too low so I phoned them and they stated that their records only go back 7 years, so its up to me to provide proof that I had a Lloyds/TSB card since 1988 (which I can't provide because I wouldn't have the space for that many statements!!) plus they think I may have had a TSB Access or Mastercard which has nothing to do with them (work that one out if you can).
The £670 is from 2003 onwards. So I guess I can forget the PPI I paid before that. The whole process took 3 months from my initial contact to payment.
Anyone else had a similar problem that they can give me advice on?0 -

I'd personally regard this as a success. It might have been different if you had documentation, but as you say, who has space for age-old statements?
My advice? Accept and enjoy!0 -
When did you send it? They'll usually acknowledge receipt within about two weeks. Did you send it recorded delivery? You can check it has arrived via the Post Office.Hi

The phone number on the acknowledgement just puts you on almost permanent "hold" in my experience. I'll therefore reserve it for those who are wanting information about their re-dress or loan re-set.0 -

Thnks
That is 8 weeks, they go by actual working days, these do not include the weekends.
They only have to give you a final response after 8 weeks, then they pay you asap after this.0 -
