:jTo take a line from from a song " It may be winter outside but in my heart it's spring" Just had a reply from the Halifax today they have upheld my complaint of one of my loans. Not sure how they have worked it out but am well chuffed. There were a succession of loans, one refinancing the other from 2001 to 2005 when the last was consolidated into the mortgage. This particular loan was for 3k over 60 months £972.60 was added for the PPI for this period. This was refinanced 14 months later. They have said in their letter that the offer is including PPI on loans that were opened in June 1999. I have no recollection or paperwork with regards to this one. Their offer calculation is a s follows:
    Refund of premiums £128.16
Refund of Interest at 16.9% £33.48
    Interest at 8% till 11/4/2012 £154.10
    =£315.74
    The offer tho is £765.22
Not complaining but cant really make head no tail of it. Any thoughts?
Well my first success, still waiting to hear about the other three, crossing fingers. It makes up for the disappointment from MBNA last week.
Thanks to all you guys for the help and HOPE.
Forgot to say, this took one phone call on the 20th of Feb, they took details of all the loans. First response letter within 5 days and then this today.

    Well done on your success!

I am not good on the calculation side, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to check them over for you.

    Hi All,

I'm new to the site today. It's great reading about all of your successes on the site. Hopefully somebody can help me out with my claim!

I took out PPI with HSBC at some point in the mid 90's and then cancelled it all when I closed my HSBC accounts in 2007. The PPI was sold to me by HSBC but was actually covered by CPP. The insurance covered my credit cards and store cards.

I have written to HSBC with the standard claim letter and they replied within three weeks saying they have no record of me ever having PPI with them. I have sent an email to CPP and they have said pretty much the same. CPP did actually ask me to provide all of my old addresses which I have not yet done.

My question is - should I be claiming from HSBC or CPP in this case? I no longer have any old credit card statements from HSBC and any paperwork I had from CPP has also been destroyed. Is it time for me to go to the ombudsman or should I push harder with HSBC and CPP?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi and welcome

Whoever sold and set up your account are the ones responsible.

If you do manage to come across any paperwork in relation of that account, send them copies.

If the accounts was still active in the last 6 or 7 years, I'm sure they will find some information.

Keep at them Dave, and let us know, good luck.;)

I have today had letter from Santander re storecard with House of fraser they have rejected my claim. They have sent me a copy of the agreement that i signed , i took the card out instore. I have signed where it says protecting your account. However i no this hasnt been explained to me as i would not have taken it out as i was paid 6 months full pay sick 6 1/2 pay redundancy package & life ins. So why would i pay for something i would never use or need. The acc was opened 2002 and i stopped the ppi 2006. They have had a fortune out of me over that time as card was always to max.It also says i had a 30 day quibble guarantee where i could have cancelled , but i didnt even know i had taken it out. I know i should have taken more notice of what i was signing for but i know now the hard way.It also says the policy was upgraded in 2003 with new T&C which i cant remember getting. So on these grounds they are not refunding any of the payments. Final response. It says if you are not happy to get in touch with FLA. Why them and not the FOS. Not doing so good lately with claims Monument Capital one & now Hof all rejected. Any advise anyone.

    Hi there

They always seem to fob off if the business were not regulated as such by FSA or GISC.
You can of course FLA, but going by lots of posts they are not that helpful, if that fails, contact the FOS and they will generally suggest the underwriter/insurer avenue as they may possibly have been regulated by the above 2 first stated, they will then check the involvement they had with broker/lender of the policy.

Do not give in quite yet.;)

Just wanted to share my experience with Lloyds Tsb PPI reclaim , after thinking I had no chance of a reclaim as I had destroyed all paperwork when I had paid off my loan from 2007.

I thought what have I got to lose, I printed off the claim form direct from LLoyds website and filled in what detail I could find from my online statements ( I paid my loan of early in 2009) 5 days later I received a reply saying that were looking into my complaint further and exactly six weeks later 14th March I received a letter offering me £1300 stating if I was happy with the offer I need do nothing more. ( letter gave no indication as to when money would be paid)

Imagine my surprise when checking my bank account the following morning £1300 had already been deposited. I count myself to be one of the lucky ones as for the price of a 1st class stamp I feel like I have had a windfall ( and I nearly didnt bother as didnt have any paperwork to back up my claim)

Maybe they have got off lightly and thats why the money was deposited quickly but I am more than happy and just wanted to say to anyone else teetering on the edge of shall I shant I ...just go for it .... what have you got to lose.

    Hi and welcome

That is going to make THE BIGGEST difference to us. Shocked.

This looks right to me, you only paid this loan for 14 months and when you settled they would have given you a rebate of the ppi and they take this amount off.
  • My husband had loans with HSBC, between 1999 and 2006. In total he had 5 loans over that period, usually taking out one loan to repay another etc. A total financial mess untill I sorted him out lol.
In nov 2011 I sent a letter to HSBC using one of your templates, my husband was not sure if he had PPI or not, and we had no details for any of the loans. A few weeks later, HSBC sent us a letter with details of each loan, and yes, each loan had PPI INSURANCE much to his shock.
We then sent a further letter to HSBC where they sent us the questionnaire to complete. We completed 5 x questionnaires (one for each loan) and sent it off on 2/1/12.
Yesterday he recieved a letter from HSBC stating that in four weeks time we will recieve a refund of £13,175.

Not bad for an hours worth of paperwork and a few first class stamps. My husband was positive he did not have PPI and was not going to claim. Glad I took the time out to write a simple letter.

Thank you Marin Lewis for giving me the information needed... CHA CHING
  • I wrote to capital one about my PPI reclaim & they have offered me £49.20p which i have excepted.I am now just waiting for my cheque, 4 weeks after accepting their offer.
I have also written to Welcome Finance, who are now being dealt with by FSCS, they have sent me a claims form but are asking for my bank account details, is that normal?
