    Can anyone help....
I am trying to send the letter requesting a full list of all he insurance charges added to my credit card account.
I have downloaded the template from MSE but there is no mention in there about including a cheque for £10.
I thought this service cost £10 - Am I getting my wires crossed??
Just don't want to send the letter off for them to send it back asking for £10!!
Thanks in advance for any advice!!

If it is the Sar letter you are sending, it does say the £10 fee

    hi and welcome

i am aware if there are any outstanding arrears they are allowed to use the refund towards them, and also any balance, but anything remaining should come back to you plus the interest.
It does however vary from one bank/business to the other, and to what i am aware of as long as the arrears are cleared, you can argue that you would prefer to receive the remainder of what is left, because you were hoping to use the money for maybe another debt.

On settled accounts, you should receive all your refund.

However, did you sign, or did they just automatically do this?

    Barclays OD protection £3,774 paid
    MBNA £4,159 paid

All it takes is a few hours filling in forms and a few stamps.(And perhaps a few phone calls and emails if dealing with Barclays:mad:)

hi we just been made an offer for missold ppi and accepted but my husband was made redundant and we are struggling, he owes on his overdraft and is paying 1pound a month on his loan untill he gets back into work, the account has also been put on hold, we called tsb to say we diddnt want the ppi putting into the account thats on hold as we desparetly need it for priority debts and they agreed to send a cheque, we have now recived a text from tsb saying all the money was tranferred into the account thats on hold and were left with nothing??? on the letter we recived it says this could happen but only if they have permission, to which they definatly did not, what can we do??? help plzzzz.

Please contact your MP, ask if they can help and ask him or her to write to them on your behalf, this should do the trick, afterall if you did not accept they do refund it this way, they have not followed your wishes where you had good reason to request they send a cheque due to hardship circumstances, where you were hoping to pay towards priority debts more important than those of unsecured.
It is worth a shot, good luck.

    • What were you reclaiming: Credit Card
    • Who was the provider: MBNA
    • How much did you get back: £2872 :j
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: a letter
I sent a letter off about being mis-sold PPI as a student about 5 weeks ago, expecting nothing back. I also enclosed MBNA's official PPI reclaiming form so I'd get a quicker response. I was sold PPI by some MBNA man with a clipboard offering a free umbrella if I took out a card at Birmingham New St Station, which was ridiculous because my only income was a student loan. I got the standard response letter saying they'd look into it about a week ago and then when I got in tonight I nearly died of shock when I read their letter saying they'd refund £986 worth of PPI fees and then £1794 interest on top! I can't believe itI'm so excited!

    Well done and Congratulations!

    Your very welcome

Personally they should always confirm in writing what they are going to do, it is their job to do this because how were you supposed to know what they were going to do if they did not let you know in the first place, where they just gone along and done it.
I would point that out to them, and maybe contact your local MP to write to them as well.;)

  • Hi everyone,

    Please help!

Had a reply from HSBC saying they uphold my complaint on my credit card and confirm I had a PPI policy from Sept 2003 to Dec 2003 when I cancelled the policy.
They say that due to the age of the policy they do not have records so cannot locate any evidence I was charged any PPI!!
They ask me for documentation and statements, but I do not have any, I did a SAR request awhile ago on some old loan accounts with them but they didnt hold any documents due to their age so I dont expect them to have any for this credit card.
What I dont get is if they are saying I DID have PPI for 4 months why are they saying they cannot see I was charged any PPI??
Any advice on what to do now I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks

    Hiya

I would write back and ask them where they had the details from of the PPI and to have come to the decision of upholding your complaint.

If there is no details at all, maybe you could tell them that you will be happy with a reasonable offer. (that's if no details are found on the account).

Some banks will offer an amount they think reasonable if they do not hold all the information of the account, one of mine was the same a few months back via Lloyds, it was one of the standard offers of £1200 which I assumed was great because I don't think the amount I actually paid into that loan came up to that as such.
It was though from an old loan of the mid 90's.

Please feel free to wait for other opinions on this if you want to, before you go any further, good luck.;)

  • In January I put in two claims for mis-sold ppi. One with Capital One which was upheld and I received the glorious sum of about £4! I think I only ever used to card once though but it's still a win! :j

Had a letter from Lloyds on wednesday saying my claim had been upheld and they were refunding £818 woo hoo! I only paid ppi for about 8 months before I realised how useless it was to me but I was told in order to cancel it I had to refinance and I ended up having to borrow more money than I had originally. So my refund was made up of the ppi payments I had made and all the difference and early repayment charges etc, plus the 8% interest to 26 March. :j

Now I've seen all the posts on here about how Lloyds are rubbish at paying up so I wasn't really expecting any money anytime soon but would you believe it I checked my balance today and they have paid the money straight into my account only 2 days after I received the letter!

Funniest thing was today a guy from my local Lloyds branch called me to ask me to come in to "evaluate my borrowing" I told him he could shove his meeting as I would be paying off the loan the next time I was in town and I wasn't really interested in any products that Lloyds felt would be suitable for me.

I'm very chuffed with the result and all it took was a couple of stamps and about 10 minutes. I didn't have any copies of loan agreements, just sent screen shots of my internet banking showing the loan and giving rough dates of when I refinanced it. With Capital One I didn't even have the card number just sent them the dates I had it and the addresses I lived at at the time.

Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear back! Thank you so much MSE!!
