PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

They need account details to repay redress into, who did you get the from?.I wrote to capital one about my PPI reclaim & they have offered me £49.20p which i have excepted.I am now just waiting for my cheque, 4 weeks after accepting their offer.
I have also written to Welcome Finance, who are now being dealt with by FSCS, they have sent me a claims form but are asking for my bank account details, is that normal?
You could ring them and ask if they have sent you this letter just in case it is not legit.0 -
They sometimes pay the 8% separate to the redress, they will give you the rest but this is Lloyds we are talking about!, some have had quick payments and others have waited a long time.
Was this on a loan? If yes something similar happened to me.
They sent a cheque for some of it and like you I called them to find out about the rest, they said it would come shortly, but it didn't. I had to keep chasing them and then my loan details on my online banking disapeared. Apparently they had decided to take the rest of the money and pay off the balance on my loan.
I was fuming since I had not been given the choice. I wasn't getting anywhere on the phone I decided to go to my local branch, I am glad I did. They explain that because of the PPI the loan went on for longer than it should have and it would have cost me more to keep paying the loan.
I ended up with more than they had originally offered.:rotfl:
I have come to this conclusion in my various dealings with LLoyds, they make it up as they go along, there are no rules or consistency in their dealings!
Hope this helped.0 -
Thanks Amersall and all for the inspiration and hope, sometimes in these situations you look at other peoples stories and think that will never happen to me. Let me tell all it does happen and with very little effort in most cases. Do it yourself, it will be worth it.:DThis looks right to me, you only paid this loan for 14 months and when you settled they would have given you a rebate of the ppi and they take this amount off. With Our Thoughts. Hi All,
I'm new to the site today. It's great reading about all of your successes on the site. Hopefully somebody can help me out with my claim!
I took out PPI with HSBC at some point in the mid 90's and then cancelled it all when I closed my HSBC accounts in 2007. The PPI was sold to me by HSBC but was actually covered by CPP. The insurance covered my credit cards and store cards.
I have written to HSBC with the standard claim letter and they replied within three weeks saying they have no record of me ever having PPI with them. I have sent an email to CPP and they have said pretty much the same. CPP did actually ask me to provide all of my old addresses which I have not yet done.
My question is - should I be claiming from HSBC or CPP in this case? I no longer have any old credit card statements from HSBC and any paperwork I had from CPP has also been destroyed. Is it time for me to go to the ombudsman or should I push harder with HSBC and CPP?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Send a Sar to HSBC they were the ones who sold you this ppi.

In nov 2011 I sent a letter to HSBC using one of your templates, my husband was not sure if he had PPI or not, and we had no details for any of the loans. A few weeks later, HSBC sent us a letter with details of each loan, and yes, each loan had PPI INSURANCE much to his shock.
We then sent a further letter to HSBC where they sent us the questionnaire to complete. We completed 5 x questionnaires (one for each loan) and sent it off on 2/1/12.
Yesterday he recieved a letter from HSBC stating that in four weeks time we will recieve a refund of £13,175.
Not bad for an hours worth of paperwork and a few first class stamps. My husband was positive he did not have PPI and was not going to claim. Glad I took the time out to write a simple letter.
Thank you Marin Lewis for giving me the information needed... CHA CHING
Well done!!!
So his oldest loan was in 1999 and they still had details?
I ask because they are telling me they don't have details for my loans from 2005 and 2006 due to their age!!!

In January I sent claim a to Barclays for PPI on one loan, they have just responded with offer of almost £15,000 having assessed that the PPI on my last four loans was inappropriate.
That is what I call - 'The real deal' :money::money:0 -

Hi there,
Hsbc replay to my complaint about miss-sold ppi on my credit card.
They offered to pay redress of 2000 in full and final settelment of my complaint.
Just want to ask what they mean by:
In order to ensure that this matter has not financially disadvantaged you,the offer will put you back into the position that you would have been had the Cardholder Repayment Protector not been taken out.
