  • I always find it amazing when you speak to someone they can find you and all your data you want, but can't give it to you over the phone. I think I'll go down the route they've taken my money without supplying the information I've paid for.
They can't be that busy if CEO keeps appearing on the TV saying everyone deserves their bonuses!!
  • Hi, has anyone had any success from a loan with PPI applied for online? I understand it is harder to claim, so just wondered if anyone had had a successful claim and on what grounds.
    Many Thanks

    What were you reclaiming:
    Credit card

    Who was the provider:
    Virgin (MBNA)

How much did you get back:
    £383.67 premiums, £93.71 interest on premiums, £265.67 8% interest
    Total = £743.05

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:
FOS questionnaire sent to MBNA approx 4 weeks ago, a "we're looking at it response" ~2 weeks ago, Uphold received Friday.

There are various other accounts I've found but this is the only one they have responded to so far.

    Cheque arrived yesterday! :j

I was not going to do anything about claiming the PPI on the loan I took from them in 2003 which is still active due to refinancing in 2006 because I didn't think i stood any chance of getting anywhere.
My partner kept going on about it, I saw Martin on one of the morning programs and I started reading some of the stories on MSE website.
I called LLoyds TSB in late September to lodge my complaint and heard nothing until the first week in January. A letter which read we are making you an offer £10,735.48. I was speechless as you can imagine! The letter stated that if was happy with the offer not to do anything and they would pay the money into my bank account if it was still active if not they would send a cheque as soon as possible, so I didn't do anything. towards the end of January the online information on my loan changed and did not make any sense so I started chasing telling them that they should cancel the PPI and the loan should be restructure, they said they were working on it and for the moment they couldn't access the information on my loan and to call back in seven days. A few days later I received two letters, one saying further to your request to cancel the PPI bla bla bla and the other in reference to a letter I never received but to please see below a cheque for £5,685.48 and the case was now closed. I did not know what to think except these people are going back on their word and they are now trying to rip me off! I decided to look at my loan information on line before calling them and it was showing -£32.12, I was so confused. I called them asking for an explanation only to be told that they had paid the loan off I said they have what? The settlement amount on my loan was of £8,666. they have actually paid out a total of £14,351.48 which is more than the original offer, apparently a letter had been sent to me explaining the situation the previous day (monday 13 February) I am still waiting for this letter, I have chased them and told them look I am not unhappy with the outcome but I wished I had been given the choice and besides the way this was handled was not in line with the offer made in their letter. I have not deposited the cheque yet. I want to see the letter and I am very curious to read what they have to say.
This is my first post, sorry it is a rather long one. Has something like this happen to anyone? i am happy but very confused!
Martin thank you so much for all the information and to all that take the time post their stories.

Today I got a letter saying that claim was being upheld :)

Total amount of ppi premiums £641.48
Total amount of interest associated with ppi premiums £203.88
    Total amount interest 8% £57.73
    Total cheque for £903.09

They said this letter acts as their final response and if I have furthur concerns to go to the ombudsman. I am not exactly concerned, but I just thought the 8% seems low in comparison to some of the other 8% refunds people are getting.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Please can someone advise me on my next step. I sent in my SAR to RBS with information due on 15/2/2012, I received a letter asking me for info I'd already supplied so I called and spoke to one of their advisors who couldn't find me on the system, then could, promised all my info including credit cards which she could see on the system, so I waited. I then received a letter with 1 loan detail on stating no PPI and my current bank account number as the loan account number saying this was all they could find, I called again and said this isn't the loan information I wanted and the advisor confirmed there was another loan with PPI and would send out the details on next service with TNT, that was Monday, and nothing. In the meantime I've received another letter saying they have no credit cards in my name, when they've already confirmed they have. I've called Natwest and they won't accept a mis-selling claim without a loan account number and say that I have to get this from RBS, they've cashed the cheque and basically I've had nothing relating to the original information I requested, which was everthing they held on me, which I then listed so there could be no confusion. Do you think I'm fighting a losing battle, or are the using delaying tactics hoping I'll give up. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ask them what info you should receive from a SAR, to be honest, RBS were quick with the info they have given you, they usually have 40 days to gather this info, it could be that someone is looking for the rest of the data.

If this is a Credit Card, when they reset the card for any period that the card was in credit, the 8% does not come into play.

Martin thank you so much for all the information and to all that take the time post their stories.

Sorry this post was missed yesterday :o

When you get the letter, this should show you how the redress was done, this will show the whole ppi that they had to take off the loan and the redress that should have come to you.

Did you have any arrears on this loan?, if not they have a cheek to clear the loan, i know this is one debt less, but all the same they should have asked you.

Ring them up and put a complaint in about the way they have dealt with this claim, tell them you are not happy that you were not asked about how the redress was paid, and have no breakdown of the redress, tell them if this is not sorted asap, you will contact FOS.
