    Hi,
I'm new to this website so please forgive me if this post is in the wrong place.

I used to have a loan account with Barclays, I can't remember how much the loan was for or how much PPI I paid on it, and no longer have any paperwork but I did pay a settlement on the loan in 2004 when I left the bank. In all honesty, I had completly forgotten about the loan and reclaiming any PPI had never occurred to me.

Anyway, I arrived home from work today to find a letter from Barclays and a cheque for £246.46. The letter said that my account wasn't closed down correctly and that they have reviewed my account and found that a credit balance of £74.25 was created during the settlement process, they have returned this to me along with a PPI refund of £135.03 and a gesture of goodwill of £37.18. I can only assume that they are preempting any claim from me by sending me this amount which I am very happy to recieve.

Because of this I have looked through more recent paperwork and found that I have paid more PPI to RBS in a single payment policy and will be following the advice here and seek to reclaim.

    Hi hun

Well its good news to have an offer so well done there.....:T :T , I would try to request a copy of the agreement by writing to them and enclose a payment of £1 by either cheque or postal order payment, post by recorded delivery, tell them you look forward to receiving the copy of the agreement within 12 days of request. I would also add in the letter, "I am aware you have information on files about me due to receiving the letter of an offer" in case they try to say they no longer have this, I would also request in a separate letter for the full breakdown calculations, when they arrive, you are welcome to post on the reclaiming discussion thread where I'm sure someone will take a look at the figures for you if you want to.;)

    Good luck

    Hi there hun

If you know there is a big difference in the amounts, then I would try to ask for a higher amount, if they do not do this you should get the option of taking this to the Financial ombudsman service.

You can always ask them for a written breakdown in calculations of this as well, ask them to post them directly to you for as soon as possible.
This should show what is what with the PPI, and interest etc, good luck and hope they higher this for you.

If you decide to take the offer then well done anyway.:T  ;)

i received a letter from hsbc yesterday and they are going to a Regulated complaints officer to investigate and once the the investigation is complete a full response will be issued, this will take between four and eight weeks, is this the norm ?

    Hi there
Good luck with this and hope you receive good news.

Yes they have 8 weeks to respond in full, this is the timescale they are given to investigate complaints, however, if you've not heard anything by the 8 weeks you should be eligible to take this further to the Financial ombudsman service then for example.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on, cheers.;)
