paulmitchell wrote: »Hi, I came across this website last week and have since started a claim for bank charges but now i am looking into PPI on a personal loan i have.
I phoned a company about this but they are charging £495 to handle my case, what i would like to know is, is there a way i can do this myself without having to pay out all that money.
Hope someone can help. Many thanks. Paul.
Hi Paul
Personally I would not pay out when you can do this just as easy yourself free......apart from a stamp or 2.
There is a link here for you to check through that gives you more info on PPI mis selling and reasons, also a letter reclaim template, they have 8 weeks to respond in full, they will let you know in the letter when its the final response where if not satisfied you should be able to take this then to the finanical ombudsman service (FOS) another free service who takes over these complaints and investigates for you.
Here is the link here:

Some of those reasons may apply to you, if so write them in the reclaiming letter and keep us posted of this in case further steps are required, post by recorded delivery.
Good luck.;)

Hi Paul
The agreement does come in handy but if you know PPI was added you can still continue to complain and reclaim.
Meanwhile, write to them in a separate letter to their data dept and enclose a £1 in either cheque or postal order, and ask them to send you a copy of the agreement, they should supply this within 12 days.
The agreement may be required if you had to take this matter further for example the financial ombudsman service, however, after writing to complain to them they may even send you a copy with the response.;)
You post anytime Paul if you need any help, that is not a problem.:A
Who was the loan taken out with if you don't mind me asking and what year? cheers.

Good, as the 6 years have not gone by then they should be able to supply you with a copy of the agreement with no problems.
I will check out some addresses and post back shortly.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Paul as promised in my post just posted, I have a few addresses, no doubt you already know who to send to in regards of your reclaim etc, but otherwise others here who have been involved with these should be able to confirm who to sent to in both complaining/reclaiming to requesting your agreement.;)

I wrote to Egg a couple of months ago, after hearing Martin's advice for reclaiming missold PPI - It was made quite clear to me that without the insurance I would not get the loan.
I used Martin's template letter, after about 4 weeks they wrote back to say they were looking into it. Three weeks after I get a letter saying yes I was due a refund - over £2500, which has effectively cleared my loan 9 months early. Thanks Martin I cannot believe they paid out. I would suggest anyone with a concern take the time to fill out the simple template letter. Brilliant and thanks again Martin and his team. good luck to everyone else0 -
Well done Tin!
I also wrote to BoS to reclaim PPI on my loan which which would not cover me in the event of redundancy. the paperwork had conflicting advice so there was no arguing..I have gone from owing £17k - minus payments already made to £10k! I am very happy and glad I visited this forum.0
