  • My friend advised me about reclaiming PPI if you believe you have been missold the policy. I took a loan out with A&L 4 years ago and was told at the time i had to have PPI or my loan application wouldn't be approved. I have never taken out a PPI policy and only took it out because of this.

I wrote a letter to A&L cancelling the policy and then followed it up with a letter from the tenplate on this site.

2 weeks later they wrote to me with an offer, stating they couldn't prove that i hadn't been missold the policy and offered me £1604.00 including interest.

A great result for the cost of a stamp. My advice is to try it, they can only say no!

I used the template letter for my hubbys PPI on a loan he took out in 2004 with NatWest. I sent the letter off 19 February 2008 and on 6 February 2009, after going through the FOS he got £2983 back. We claimed under the previous medical condition element. Its just a shame that we cant claim for his previous loan of 2000 as it is over the limit.

  • Just wondering, I know a few people who took out a car loan with the company Car craft or a similar group. One was paid off work and ended up having to go bankrupt. The company never told him he had PPI on his loan so he could have claimed. They have since gone bust. Whats the chances of claiming back?? He still has all the paperwork.

Just wondering with him not actually paying the whole amount back and with the company no longer trading where he stands on what he did actually pay them for PPI?

    Thanks!

Well done and many congratulations  :T  , great news and great work. .

Do you mean your unable to try to reclaim on the previous loan due to the time limit?
There may be other ways around this? or even the Financial leasing association here:

You should find the contact number on the link, give them a ring and see what they have to say, please let us know and we can try to help by maybe taking other directions, but we shall take it from here, good luck and again well done.:T ;)

    Hi Kirsty

It makes no difference and you can still try to reclaim this back.

What year did the company stop trading?

If this is the case maybe it would be wise to contact the Financial compensation scheme here (FSCS):
    http://www.fscs.org.uk/contacts/

When a company have stopped trading, maybe gone bust for example the FSCS have lists of companies where they take over from these finance companies, but you will have to check with them first in order for them to arrange to send you a form to complete, let us know and we shall move on from there, good luck.;)
