PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Just a quick update, I had yet another emailed response from an Egg Advisor, who decided not to bother with the same story about taking out PPI when I took out the loan, and advised me that a letter was being sent to me saying it had been passed to their complaints department.
Yesterday, 2 letters arrived from Egg, both from their complaints department, with the usual 8 weeks timescale for a response by them.
Tony.
Just had a letter from Egg responding to my complaint Re: Credit card, and it's a big no.
They say they have fully reviewed the case and say that as it was applied for online, it was not miss-sold. They also say they sent copies of the terms and conditions to me and that I was advised to read them and confirm they are correct. They have sent with the letter 2 screenshots of my application, with my details and a box stating I have taken out PPI. The screenshots are not actual screendumps of my online application, but screenshots of their records, with payment protection appearing in their part of the screen (along with authorise buttons, etc.
They have included a leaflet for the Ombudsman service, and state this is their final decision.
What surprises me is this decision has been taken in a day.... the letter confirming receipt of my complaint was posted on the 26th Februrary, and this letter was sent on the 27th!! Is this some sort of record!?!?!
My issue has always been that I spoke to an Egg representative first before I filled in my application and was told taking out PPI would help my application. Again, this appears to have been overlooked.
Given the amount of time it's taken them to come to this decision, they must be pretty confident that I can't prove the call took place, or they have no record of it, so am I just wasting my time in continuing??

go to fos, i did a loan on internet with northern rock same rule applies weather it was on internet or not. one of my loans did not even have ppi box ticked!! you go for it and good luck. i was fobbed off as well- that shouldnt stop you , thats what these companys want for .people to sit back and accept crap  , well we are not
I think that's what I'm going to do, I was just taken aback by the response time!
After reading on this forum about people waiting in most cases 8 weeks, I get a response in 2 days!
I also sent in a claim for a loan I had, which they haven't written about yet.... At least it appears they are looking into that one!0 -

I've just had success in claiming PPI back from EGG!
I took out a loan back in 2003 over the phone and didn't realise that PPI was part of it so after reading the site I decided to check my loan and found it was there!
I sent my letter only a few weeks ago and today I got a reply: "After carrying out a comprehensive review of your complaint I [Customer Advisor] have arranged a full refund of all premiums charged to your account, together with the associated interest charges. The total amount concerned is £2303.57p..."
This is fantastic and has reduced my outstanding balance by half and reduced the monthly payments by £70 meaning I can pay it off even quicker!
I also reclaimed £2800 in bank charges from HSBC back in 2007 before the case went to court and the hold was put on all reclaims so happy days.
Thanks Martin and all associated with MSE, I encourage everyone to check their loans and bank accounts asap!0 -

Hi everyone,
came home from work today to find a letter from Lloyds TSB on the doormat. My complaint has been accepted :j and the following will be done:- calculate a full refund of all PPI premiums that have been paid
- add interest charged on the premiums during the terms of the loan
- remove any outstanding payments and interest remaining on the PPI loan
- to give you the choice of reducing your monthly repayments (assuming you wish to accept the offer)
I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. All it took was the first template letter. Thank you Martin and everyone else who helped to clear a couple of things before I send the letter off. I am forever grateful!
Thanks
