I have sent a complaint form and questionairre to the FOS.
Do most companies destroy data after 6 years as HFC state?
Wonder what my chance are? Over £7,700 paid in PPI.
How do you know you paid £7,700 in PPI? It isn't unusual for a business to destroy paperwork 6 years after an account has closed. But if you know what you paid, have any paperwork yourself or proof, then send that back to them. PPI Claims are not restricted to a timeframe, but any financial institute is obviously only going to help supply you with info for the 6years they have to.
There are a number of examples of people who have had paperwork - including one I have seen through HFC for over 15years, and HFC paid out.Wage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you0 -
First bit of action, but after some advice.....
Received a cheque yesterday from RBS with acovering letter which simply said:
"Further to our correspondence/ conversation, please find enclose our cheque in settlement"
A total of £794.35.
HOWEVER, there has been no "calculation letter", no "acceptance letter" sent back AND on the top of the letter the only reference is for 1 CC.
Suppose the one positive is that they're accepting liability but all seems a bit fishy that they've sent a cheque for a random amount without any calculations.
For info: I'm expecting/ hoping for 20x this amount for various loans and CCs from RBS/ Halifax..
I'm sure this has happened to others on here, any advice??
Thanks is advance0 -

AN UPDATE
Rang Halifax this morning regarding my random cheque received. I was informed that this sometimes happens and that the breakdown letter can often be sent out after the cheque. She gave me all this info over the phone and I'm happy to back the cheque now. V HAPPY
I also asked about the other outstanding complaints (loans and other CCs)
She informed me that these had been approved and the cheques are in the post!!!
In total - £10.5K!!!!:j
Over the moon is an understatement. First time in 10 years I'll be debt free!!!!!!!!

Hi All,
I have been reading this thread for a while and wanted to share my Lloyds story with you. I made a complaint about 2 loans back in June and got a letter on 21st October offering me £1912.88 - well chuffed!! In the letter it stated that interest would be paid until 15 November 2011. I called them to query this and they said that I would have the cheque by then.
Well 15th November was yesterday and suprise surprise no cheque, so I called again yesterday and was told it can take 16 weeks from the date of the offer for the cheque to arrive - so the 10 February is when it should arrive by!
Thanks for all advice on this forum, I wouldnt have had the courage to do this alone with out it!

I have been reading of the many successes and I want to say well done to all who have took the banks etc on and won. To all who wait (like me) hang in there, hopefully we will receive some very good news soon.
Has anybody else been previously rejected by the Financial Ombudsman and turned it around and won????
Would love to hear some positive posts on this.
We wait and hope.....0 -
Just received my FP cheques this morning £14,912.47, just as good old Bob's office promised yesterday.
Just off to the bank and then a night out on the town tonight.

Hi all
I just want to say :T 'Thank you Martin Lewis' :T - it really is worth using Martin's template from this site to apply for a PPI reclaim.
Below I have written about my fear of applying, the loan background, the procedure and the result. I hope it helps someone out there to reclaim their PPI.
Should I reclaim PPI?I sold my house in June last year and paid off my Tesco loan early. I received numerous phone calls from companies 'offering to reclaim PPI' for me but I told them I was not interested as I thought it was too traumatic to go through the process and did not know if I would be entitled to money back.
In mid-August this year, my partner and I were looking to purchase our first property together. Looking for information about energy saving, I discovered Martin's website and read his advice about how to reclaim PPI.
For the cost of a stamp, a print out and about half an hour of time completing the letter and questionnaire, I was scared it would lead to nothing... but thought I would give it a go anyway.
Loan backgroundMy loan was for £15,000 from Tesco Bank. In 2006, I was a single homeowner when I applied for an online loan without PPI. I was telephoned by a representative who I felt had made it clear I would not be accepted unless the loan was secured on my property and I would be better off with PPI as I was on my own, and if I became sick I wouldn't be able to pay etc, etc. Fear ended up with me paying over £210/month for 10 years - £41 of which was PPI!!Letters and correspondence
Therefore, I worked out in the 3 years I had been repaying the loan it had cost me over £1600 in PPI payments before paying it off in full. (Interestingly enough the PPI would not have covered me anyway as I had left my job to complete my degree full time - so it was a complete waste of money!)
It was therefore worth a try to follow Martin's advice. I sent my forms, hoping I would maybe get the £1600 back but after reading about part-payments I expected £800.- Mid-August: Filled in forms and sent to Tesco
- End-August: About 2 weeks later, I received a letter from Tesco saying they had received my forms and were looking into my case. They also included Ombudsman forms etc.
- September: About 4 weeks later, I received another letter explaining that they were waiting for information and if I needed to contact them please do.
- Mid-October: I received another letter saying they were waiting for information to proceed with my case.
- Then 2 days after the last letter my mum phoned me and told me that another letter had arrived..
BonusThey were offering me £3395!!!:- The £1600 payments I had already made - plus interest (16 months worth)
- Because I had repaid the loan early and over £1100 was for the PPI (which I had not known!) - I was receiving that plus interest too!
I accepted their offer and received my cheque within 10 days for £3395!
I waited till it had cleared before posting my success story... Now the money will go towards Double glazing for our new home! :j
Nothing to lose by having a go yourselfIt really is worth spending that time doing it yourself rather than involving the 'PPI Reclaim Companies' - after all - YOU deserve all of your money... and you know what happened first hand, not someone at the other end of a phone.
In my case it took about 10 weeks from start to finish.
Every Little helps... Thank you TescoFair play to Tesco Bank, they kept me informed throughout the process and my patience really did pay out this time.
I now use this website all the time to save money!0 - Mid-August: Filled in forms and sent to Tesco
