maryspecial wrote: »This is the third or fourth post that ive read where halifax have upheld credit card complaints and issued cheques within a few weeks!! Ive read about complaints LODGED in sept and oct getting responses and cheques already?? Seems very strange indeed given all the August and early sept uphelds still waiting for cheques?? Have their new staff been given new procedures etc ie one dept doing all, quickly!! They are certainy bypassing all of us oldtimers the acceptance received early sept gang.... All still waiting!! Complaint submitted mid may :mad:
I've seen a few of these Halifax quick payments on here too and it does seem odd. I am now checking my credit card on-line everyday as I put my complaint in on the 7th Sept, signed for on the 9th, but not logged til the 27th after I had chased an acknowledgement. Spoke to someone on Monday who confirmed that they hadn't put on the system until then. I told him my letter had been signed for on the 9th, who had signed for it and what time but was told nothing could be done "sorry". However seeing that people who have complained later seem to be getting quick payouts, maybe it will work in my favour?!? Good luck to all thoses that are waiting though, and I hope Halifax do sort out those that had put their complaint in months ago!Wage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you0 -
Ok, I'm going to withdraw my Halifax success from this list, it appears I was getting ahead of myself. I've got a cheque for £1700, but have never received a final response and therefore don't know whether this is a full refund, with or without interest. So, the cheque is staying in my pocket for now as if I bank it then it's automatic acceptance of the offer.
I've phoned them this morning and they have assured me they will call me back with a breakdown of the figures. I'm beginning to think this is a tactic to make a smaller payout than they really should be, so I'm not falling for it!0 -
If you bank it and then the calculations are not correct, you can go back to them to redress the difference, this is not in "full and final" until you have the correct redress.The_Logans wrote: »A question - I've received a cheque from Halifax before I've received a breakdown letter. Should I bank it? If I do, is that automatically an acceptance of the offer?0 -

Dear in all 2004 ,
I took out a consolidation loan of just over £20,000 with LLoyds TSB , at the meeting the Bank Clerk would only proceed if I took out conditional PPI , she was very pushy and would only continue If the PPI was taken out at the same time , Premiums for the PPI was nearly £5,000.00 ! , One letter and 12 weeks wait and they have now agreed to refund nearly £8,000.00 , which I am looking forward to receiving , shame I had to sell my house too keep up with the additional cost of the PPI of nearly £90.00 a month :-( ,
I only decided to claim after reading all the information on this marvelous site , I am now pursuing Credit Card PPI , that was also sold and hope to get the same outcome . :-)0 -

Just wanted to say thank you so much to those who gave me advice when I initially enquired on here about my husband claiming back his PPI.
We sent the forms off at the very end of August. He was sent a letter today, and I couldn't believe my eyes! They are paying us back just short of £12,000. We thought we might get £3,000 and would have been ecstatic with that! I can't explain what this means to us. We are lucky in that he is in the Army so we don't have to worry about housing for now, but we are now going to be well on our way with a deposit for a house when he leaves the Army.
I keep crying!!!
Thank you all so much for pointing me in the right direction

Can I ask what further info you had to produce for them to double the offer
There were 2 loans, an original one and then a top up. They had information on both loans but for some reason would only calculate the refund on the top up, i had the original application so faxed them that and they recalculated the refund
UPHELD PPI COMPLAINTS:A&L Loan X4, Tesco Loan, Natwest CC, MBNA CC X2, HALIFAX TMPPRejected & with the FOS:Morgan Stanley CC

Just reading older posts, have spurred me on to try for PPI refund on old Burton Cards I have had. Sent this e-mail.
"I have had two Burton cards (closed) which now fall under Santander and wish to reclaim all PPI payments + 8 % simple interest and compensation for inconvenience of having a policy i could not have claimed on due to receiving full sick pay and sickness / redundancy / death in service payouts if needed.
I do not believe the staff who sold me the store card are sufficiently trained regards financial services and do not recall any detailed explanation or breakdown about this. This insurance was clearly not in my best interests."
Fingers Crossed.
