PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

What were you reclaiming: 2 personal loans and credit card insurance
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: 15,000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: just phoned
Hi, after reading Martin's guide I phoned Lloyds, got the reference numbers for all my past loans etc and called their PPI line. Asked them to register a complaint for me as I was genuinely missold PPI. They took it from there. After a bit of chasing they confirmed full refunds for the lot - PPI cost plus 8.5% interest plus another 8.5% as an apology. Just waiting for the money to be transferred, hopefully within 3 weeks.
Really chuffed)

Hi markyb123, if you don't mind me asking on behalf of everyone, when did you phone Lloyds to lodge the complaint?

Hi, don't mind at all. I originally phoned them sept 1st 2011. Received an offer letter mid october, case picked up to calculate 2 weeks ago and confirmation of payment amounts last week. Guy on the ppi line ( sounded hassled but was nice and defo not on a script ) stated that they had been crap at getting on top of the backlog but they now had extra staff and were getting through new payments within the 28 days and to keep calling back to check progress.
So thanks everyone for your success stories - spurred me on and I can't believe I have been successful with just a phonecall - no forms or them disputing etc ! Thanks so much
ps. interest rates were 8%... not 8.5% as I said before.0 -
We're still waiting on the TMPP cheque to come through, but the CC redress came to us in less than a week, in fact three days from when we received the letter, we got that on the Friday and the cheque on the doorstep on Monday.
Hopefully the new one will come in just as quickly.:D
Hope everyone who is waiting gets their cheques soon, I don't know why we've gotten our's so quickly, but I'm glad we did, no offence to anyone who's been waiting for so long.
If they phone and say these quick settlements aren't happening they are LYING, I only know now because we've just had out second settlement in less than a week after receiving the offer letter. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Well cheque received today, dated 11/11/11. Can't believe how quickly these cheques have paid out from Halifax/Bank Of Scotland, got one more loan with them which was paid off early, so hopefully more good news soon about that one.

A question - I've received a cheque from Halifax before I've received a breakdown letter. Should I bank it? If I do, is that automatically an acceptance of the offer?0

Hi
This seems to be happening to lots of customers, give them a call and ask if there's a letter in the post yet, in case it's crossed sort of thing.;) Good luck and well done x:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
After receiving £4200 3 months ago from Barclays for a Mortgage PPI i was told i would find out by the 11th November if they upheld some loans i had.
I have just received £8000 back from them, it couldnt have come at a better time.

Nw we are in a really tight money situation, been on a self administered DMP for 4 years and have not had a single treat or luxury in this time, so the thought that maybe we could get enough to pay off the last of our debts and actually decorate kids bedrooms etc, is almost too good to be true.
The smaller amount was paid by BACS in October and when I rang to query it was told the larger amount can only be signed off by a manager as its above the usual payout amount, and no timescales can be given.
Rang again today as its my sons 18th next weekend and was trying to juggle money for his present with money for bills etc. Spoke to a lovely NI man called John, who litened patiently to my explanation of my struggles with money and how I' not being greedy but that this money would absolutely transform 'everything', and he promised to speak to finance dept and see what he could do.
Didnt hold out much hope but he rang back within 30 mins to say that the BACS payment was made straightaway and will be in my account by middle of next week. Felt very sorry for the poor man, he was so lovely that I burst into tears lol x
great news, well done!! has it been paid yet? i rang yesterday with a similar situation and she said that i wa still on the system waiting to be 'actioned' so she 'actioned' me and put a note on the system about my financial difficulties. and said the finance team will see that and hopefully speed up the process.0
